I was on my bike (Honda XR125) the other day and the engine started making a noise and then started to slow and cut out. When looking over it, I realised there was oil. I had checked it 2 weeks earlier and the oil was fine. However, the bike now won't start. Any ideas of what will need replacing and the cost?

I take it you mean there was no oil......sounds like you seized the engine

If thats the case then it could be cheaper to buy a replacement engine as by the time the engine is making death groans then it's usually too late to salvage anything Thumbs Down The top end eg camshaft usually wears first and if it was really low on oil then the crankshaft is probably knackered too.

Refill the oil and see what happens. The top end has probably worn so bad that the valve clearences are stupendous hence failing to start.

One here for cheap https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-XR125-Complete-Running-Engine-/270762686243?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3f0ab6b723

Just been told the engine is completely knackered. Is the XR125 engine the same as the CG125 engine?

Pretty sure its an OHV engine... So I would "assume" the CG one pops in, but dnt go with me on that one...doesnt look too different, but looks mean nothing Laughing
