I have a 1998 Fazer purchased recently, I am the second owner and it has 9000 miles since new.
I am going t change the oil and note the recommended torque setting for tightening the sump nut. However on a dummy run if the socket is on the sump nut I cannot get a ratchet or a torque wrench on to the end of the socket as the frame is in the way.
If I change the oil how can I tighten the sump nut to the correct torque as I dont want to overtighten the nut and risk the threads orthe sump itself

I just use a spanner and do it by feel as you can't get a wrench in there.

You will know when you have crushed new (new) crush washer and you are actually tightening the bolt up.

No need to go over the top but about half a turn from where it starts to get pretty stiff is enough.

Hi

Probably doubly important if you are unsure on how tight to do it that you use a fresh sump plug washer (they crush down, so new will have rather more give)

All the best

Can you really not even get a socket extension in there?

If not then as above use a nice new crush washer and a well fitting spanner, the washer will crush a fair amount before you are tugging so hard you strip the threads in the sump.
