So, I bought a 1983 Honda CM125 on Ebay at the weekend. Its got a few issues, so I thought I'd start a thread to ask for advice.

First on the list is the wiring. The guy I bought it from identified that there was a problem with the wiring, he replaced the battery and ignition but the problem persisted, so he then proceeded to undo almost every electrical connection on the bike (and left it undone).

The symptom: When you turn the ignition to the Start or P position the fuse blows. In an attempt to demonstrate that the engine would turn over the owner shorted across the starter solenoid and the starter motor turned. The engine didn't fire up to the PO's surprise (which to me is not surprising because the ignition system won't be operating).

Problem is I don't have a wiring diagram and can't find one for this bike on the internet. Does anyone know if the wiring is similar to another model? Also, an tips on locating the problem?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the diagram. I tracked the problem down to the indicator relay unit. I'm not sure if it's faulty or just connected wrong but it was causing a short circuit. I've ordered a Haynes manual, so when it arrives I can work out if the relay needs replacing.

Just a note that if you need to replace the cycle parts, the Dihao HN125-8, sold in the UK as the Huoniao HN125-8, Haotian HT125-8 and Lexmoto Vixen, is a fairly close copy and some of the parts might fit.
