I've finally acquired a Pyramid Plastics undertray for my bike, brand new from the bay of e. It's sprayed in "Dolphin Metallic Grey" which I need to change to black. Can I just strip the paint from the plastic and keep it matt black or will stripping the paint damage the plastic of leave it different shades of black hence having to re-spray it anyway? If it's got to be re-sprayed, then I shant bother stripping the paint, will just "key" it with wet dry, prime and paint - correct thing to do?

Before you ask, "why didn't you buy a black one in the first place!!" it's because it was a lot cheaper to buy this one than a new black one, despite Pyramid charging more for a "Dolphin Metallic Grey" coloured one!!

You don't have to remove the paint. Just sand down the surface slightly to give the paint someting to bite to, then spray your base coat and top coat over the top. Thumbs Up

I would use wet and dry 160 to flatten it, then 240 will give you a smooth key to paint on.
Good luck and take your time.
