Hey guys,

I'm buying a Suzuki GX125 (exact similar to the GN & EN etc) tomorrow after viewing today and was overly happy with its performance on a test run... However, the owner says it gets to around 60mph and refuses to move any more, the revs sit and even down hill it won't move faster. I know that these bikes aren't cabable of restriction but is there any chance of a regulator or restrictor type thing stopping this as the specs and other users get atleast 65+mph from these bikes.

Any ideas would be great.

Dan

Quoted specs are always a little 'idealised'... anything within 5mph of them 'real world' is normally pretty good.

If its hitting 60, and refusing to rev any higher even down hill, possible its got an ignition rev limiter in the CDi, but doubtful.

More likely, the things just run out of puff.

A damn good service is likely to help a lot though.

And judging by the way those bikes loose their finish.... probably a damn good clean and polish.

Probably not a lot wrong with it, unless its belching loads and loads of black or blue smoke, or clanking like a rock on a cement mixer.

End of the day, you don't buy a Four Stroke Single 125 commuter bike, because it's 'quick'!

Well.. you are one of the few people I know with a GX, chinese versions of Suzuki really...

Dont expect much more than a happy 60-65 down a hill.

Nemo on here had one, it ate its own top end twice Shocked

Its also not exactly the same, the engines wont swap over either...the top end is the same but various actual engine parts are on the wrong side Laughing

Seriously, keep an eye on the oil...it tends to go walkabouts Neutral

What mileage are you at? Nemo sold his as spares on about 24,000 after being completely rebuilt then it ate its own head again Rolling Eyes
