hello all

Need help with this one, I have recently accquired aother bike (yes now your thinking "oh no") and following from HPI checking it the frame number doesn't match the V5. Although the HPI report is clear for the VRN i'm using. But my frame number is 1 digit wrong.

I need to find out what the reg number is for this frame and HPI check that.

Whats also confusing is that I have the paperwork for the bike since new and a really old MoT With the correct frame number written down. It has also since passed 3 MoTs since the MoT computerised database

I'm shitting the worse but as its from a Bike shop i may well take it up with them but I need to do my checks

anyone who can help?

Seems just a slip of the finger by someone at DVLA at some stage in the bikes life. Give them a bell first, more often than not you end up speaking to someone who will check/ sort it out. If you can't get it sorted easily with them go back to the dealer and get them to do it so they have all the hassle as it could get complicated.

trouble is it was personally owned by the bike shop owner. He had it for about 3/4 years as it does mention on the logbook.

Whats also worrying is that I have the service/warrenty booklet since new and since the registration ties up with the service booklet and the V5, the bike does not....... Exclamation by 1 digit. It doesn't seem like a typo and I need to HPI the frame number but all these poxy sites always ask for the VRN. So annoying!

There is something you can do,
not sure if the blokes still about doing it but about a year ago used to be a bloke on the visordown forum who from a frame number could do a hpi check and find the reg associated with it.
Not sure if you need to register on vd to get in touch with him if i remember rightly his username was yoda
or try searching the members page for a user under yodi or yoda or similar. not sure how much he charges mind you..
