Do you find yourself driving faster when there's a emergency (Crash, house fire, family took to hosipital, ect ect)?

There's two ways of looking at it, go there calm, steady, patiently thinking you don't want to end up with the same fate

Or the other way is thinking, F************k, GOT TO GET THERE!!! Then proceeding the fucking blasting it...

I personally end up going fairly fast, my friend had a crash just outside his college today, he had no phone, he got one of his friends to post the following on my facebook.

"Lukes just crashed. at college got no phone, bikes broke and i need to go A&E"

Nothing more nothing less, no way of contacting him that I knew of, so first thing I did in the spur of the moment was jump on my bike and begin to power down to college, which is normally a 20 minute ride.

I did it in 8 minute on this occassion.

Let me know your thought, Louis.

I would consider that I really didn't want to crash in such a situation, making it worse for everyone concerned.

So I would go my normal speed, which when regularly commuting would be as fast as I safely could Smile.
I may consider upping the pace on bits where there was the possibility of risking a hidden speed camera, as usually would stick to the speed limits most of the time.

About a year ago i had a phone call from my oldest lad - "Mums had a car accident, please get here quick"

I have no idea how long it took me to get there, but i do remember overtaking a copper who was on his way to the scene (not on blues and two's admittedly)

I have never since and probably will never again ride like that..

Luckily Mrs Beatnck and the kids were ok.
Thumbs Up

Almost did the same.. bad mood and driving/riding does not mix.

But, yes in regards to OP question.
My ex was rushed to hospital...I proceeded to hop on the 500 with just a lid and fly 15miles of motorway weaving between cars and the like..

Looking back on it... silly as I could have ended up a pancake Laughing

I don't let emotion control me enough to risk my life stupidly.

If I am pissed off I will tend to ride way more chilled out just to have some peace and quiet on my own.

I voted for "doesnt change." I ride the way I ride regardless of time, temper, mood or emergency.

I go as fast as I think I can get away with at all times really. So if there were something MEGA important I'd take a few more risks but i'd probably still be going safer than some i've seen on the roads.

Usually when someone needs A&E after a crash I ring 999. I didn't know the ambulance service monitored Facebook now.

I didn't think there was another Buckcherry fan in the world!

You are now my Buckcherry Brother, like it or not!

To the OP... I would drive like a c*nt to get to an emergency but not on the bike. I'm just so much more capable in the car and I'm not afraid to admit that.

Police Roadcraft is very clear that you should ride/drive in your normal way, and focus on the journey, not the destination or what awaits you.

Then every copper gets behind the wheel and leathers it everywhere, dah-dah-dah, wah-wah-wahhing the theme from The Professionals.

I think you're teling porkies. You reckon you did that journey in 40% of your usual time. If you normally average 30 mph for this trip, that means your average speed was 75mph. 40 mph becomes 100mph, and 50 mph becomes 125mph. All average speeds of course, and all unachievable unless you normally ride at 30 mph on an NSL road.
