Good luck!

3 stone in a day won't happen. Easiest way to "loss" lots of weight in a short time is basically to de-hydrate yourself. Probably not a good idea, as if you collapse there they might decide not to let you in. Laughing

Good Luck mate, me father is just retiring form the police after 30+ years!!! Always loved it. You should go for the MOD Plods though. They are armed pretty much all of the time! Twisted Evil As for the weight, I lost 3 stone in two month only eating on meal a day, which was chicken and rice! Not too healthy if you go any further than that though!

I've applied for Greater Manchester (second most corrupt force in the country apparently Embarassed )

The PIR test is a three section test to workout your maths, data transfer, spelling, grammar, and detail remembrance abilities.

You then have an eye test and get weighed and measured afterwards.

I applied at the begining of Jan and a month later I have the first stage to pass - there is a fair bit more to do but the GMP website reckons about three months from application to appointment if successful.

To gain access you must fail all tests and have no common sense.

I have been refered to the occupational health unit so they can liposuction some out!!!!

I already lost a stone for this and to be honest there is no short cut.

You can get liptotropic suppliments but they won't work on their own - eat less of the bad stuff(anything that tasets good like chips, chocolate and crisps!), excercise and drink 1.5-2 litres of water a day.

It has certainly changed since I joined in the 70's Crying or Very sad

Darned right it has - there is no obstacle course on the physical anymore and you only have to do level 5/4 on the bleep test where it used to be 8/1.

Previous cnvictions are not as big an issue and financial difficulties are sometimes over looked. Much easier than it ever has been but with so many officers retiring (in line with the large 80's recruitment) they reckon 30% of the force is impending retirement - they need to replace them so standards are lower and wages higher than ever.

There was no physical test at all before I joined. The physical examination I had prior to joining was in Oxford with other potential recruits, the Doctor came along said "Cough Twice" Wink and that was it!

The first time I saw a pair of trainers and shorts was when I got to training school (Eynsham Hall, which has long since been closed).

Fortunately, in those days I was reasonably fit as I used to play Football at quite a high level, but once I left training school it was left up to the individual to decide whether they maintained their level of fitness.

Not sure I could cope now though! Sick

I believe that if I pass I go to Hendon for two weeks then Bruge for 15 weeks.

Why would you go to Hendon if you are joining GMP? Hendon is for the Met. GMP will (I would have thought) conduct their own induction course as do all other forces around the country.

(Unless of course the new plan is to have Greater Manchester policed by Met uniform wearing policemen and the Met will be Policed by the GMP!) Wink

Then you do 15 at your local training camp and henceforth into probation.

Yeah that's the next stage but I've got years of customer service so it can't be that hard for me - I've been trained by a psychologist to deal with irate customers etc....
