Hey,
My good, old KLE (2006) developed a problem . For some time now I can hear a groaning noise from around a drive, front sprocket. I am very worried about it as I am not sure what is a reason for that. It is definitely not a wheel bearing or brakes. When I rest my foot on gear level while the clutch is pulled I can feel slightly movement up and down but gears are working absolutely fine. Chain and sprockets should last 20000 miles?! Can somebody help me to find the reason of such a problem before I will put my bike for repair to the garage and spend £££. Many thanks |

Hi
20K would be a pretty good life for a chain and sprockets, and not looking after them well could easily halve that.
First things I would check would be for an over tight chain or a chain with tight spots (or both - chain being over tight where the tight spots are).
Also check the condition of the front sprocket. Often forgotten about as out of sight, and often wears more quickly than the rear.
All the best

if you don't know the condition of your chain and sprockets
then i would safely assume that they were fucked.
a bike isn't like a car, it requires constant maintenance,
you should be checking your chain sprockets ect every week
ive gone through chains and sprockets in less than 5000 miles ____________________ the humans are dead
