My chain on my GPZ 500 is catching the chain guard, it's really close to it at the sprocket, I adjusted the chain tension yesterday so I don't know if it's anything to do with it.

I noticed a "swooshing sound" which increased in frequency the faster I was going, i.e. the faster the wheel turns. The bolt to loosen the wheel was quite tight when I removed it so I just tightened it up to what I thought was a similar amount (I don't have a torque wrench).

I only had a little halfords wrench that came in a £50 socket set so I don't think I could have tightened it dangerously so, though I'm not sure.

What could this be?

GPZ 500 chain slack (total vertical freeplay) should be between 35-40mm (1.37-1.57in) measured mid point between the sprockets with the chain at its slackest position while on the center stand.

Also do the string thing to make sure your rear wheel is alligned with the front.

Its also worth cleaning the chain and checking for stuck links.

Guess I can't figure out how to embed a video... so here's a link of what it looks like.

From the opening part of your video, the chain guard appears to be off-centre. Maybe you gave it a tap whilst adjusting the chain and distorted a mounting?

Christ on a bike, bend the chain guard back into place and unbunch your pretty pink panties. Do you want to swap knitting patterns?
