Nothing interesting about it, just a classic SMIDSY.

Travelling along a busy road, rain had just stopped but still a lot of surface water around. Spot a guy edging out of a side road but made eye-contact with him so I thought all was fine, so obviously he looked the other way and pulled out. Rolling Eyes

I grabbed a handful of front brake and ended up sliding my way under the front of the car, I then had to do some serious shouting at the prick to get him to reverse off me. Passing Rozzer was out of his car by the time I could stand up, which is probably for the best...

Obvious damage to the bike was a bent and twisted back brake lever, scratches to the exhaust, bent front brake lever, scratched forks, bent and twisted mirror and (the reason there was so little damage) scratched crash bars. Ironically I'd intended to take the crash bars off last weekend 'cos I hate the look of them, but it'd been too wet to mess with them! Laughing

I just had torn waterproof trousers (army surplus classics), scuffed boots and jacket. Gear win! I thought I was fine, though predictably I started to stiffen up as the evening wore on and I ended up spending a couple of hours in A&E to be told I have nothing broken just Musculoskeletal pain and sent off with pain killers. This morning has been unamusing so far.

Best part of the whole event was getting the bike to the garage afterwards, the AA turned up and as the garage was only a mile or so away I decided to ride the bike there. We went in convoy with my wife in her car in front of me and the AA van behind me, halfway there some woman in a car tried to move into my lane on top of me and only swerved off at the last second. She then shouted a load of abuse at me, gave me the finger and sped off! When we got to the garage the AA guy was white-faced and shaking, he said he thought he was watching me get killed! Shocked Laughing

Now for the fun of the claim and all that bullshit... Rolling Eyes

Glad to hear you're OK, that could have been nasty (either of them).

I'm treating that as another reminder to watch the front wheels rather than to believe that I've made eye contact and been seen, recognised and acknowledged.

Cheers all, the woman didn't get chased because (a) the bike was moderately fucked and (b) I was being watched by the AA guy! Wink It was just more evidence as to why it's important to get to the front of traffic and then get away from them, the only safe road is one where no-one is near me!

Anyway, as requested, shoddy paint representation Very Happy -

The road, my route in black and the blind idiot's in grey

And how a photo may have looked

In good news his insurers accepted liability straight away and I've already had a Bandit hire bike delivered.

The bad news, I still feel like I've been mauled by a gorilla and trying to hunch myself up on the Bandit sent my shoulder into agony after a quick trip round the block. Sad

I should probably start a new post for this, but any advice on riding this bike after riding a cruiser? It seems silent and lacking in feedback after my elderly Virago... And yes I am prepared for the sarcasm that's likely to ensue! Cool
