hey guys. iv just bought some led indicators for the front and rear of my 2002 R6 and got them fitted but at the mo they do the flash fast thing as i knew they would but they also have a problem of when i put the right signal on the flash fast AND the other side come on dull at the same time. iv checked the wires ect and all is fine. now iv read i have to get a relay to solve the flash rate but will this solve the other problem and iv also read about resistors too so im a bit lost on what to buy Confused oh and also the dash signal warning light has a mind of its own at the min too some times it stays on.

any help would be great on what realy or what and would it solve all my probs.

im off to do some more research

thanks

Most bike shops would sell them and ull see it with the indicators, the relay would have the name yamaha on it as its a universal part thoughout the yamaha range so should fit your r6. Id consider getting the relay and fitting that firstly as it may sort out the situation. And it will deffinatly slow down the rate your LED indicators are flashing.

I got my honda one for my nsr for £15 from a honda dealer but yeah they are expensive for what they are. I would suggest ebay shops or a bike parts site. I will be looking the same thing for my r6 soon once i get front LEds on and they are £20 aswell which has put me off at the moment as im not paying £30 for front indicators and £20 for the relay as of yet. Just try for deals aorund various bike sites. good luck

Itll just be called an indicator relay with a bike manufacters name on it. If you cant see them just ask the shop keeper for it. Just make sure its the yamaha one.

Personally I'd wack some resistors in parralel with the LED's. I'm sure that will work.

Make sure they are the right rating though, and they will probably kick out a bit of heat so try and bolt them to the frame (ensuring only the insulated part actually touches the metal).

so all i need is a yamaha relay? whats wrong with the one on it then? all im thinking is i dont wanna pay £20 for one from a bike shop if i can go to a local electrical shop and buy one thats not all branded up for the use of led light and charging me stupid money for it.

LED indicators have a different (smaller?) impedence so that's why they won't flash properly, the indicator circuit relies on the resistance of the bulb.

As I said, resistors would help - best bet is to measure the bulb and then work out what sort of resistor would achieve a similar value.

If you have a look at the relays on the link I posted it has wiring diagrams and fitting info at the bottom near the prices.

There's a LOT of info in the pdf files on there. Check them out before rushing to buy a £20 one.
