It should work, but I've never actually seen any effect from it.

Can't see it causing any problems, wouldn't have thought it would have done much though. I've always had carbed bikes so have put the fuel system cleaner in as opposed to the injector cleaner.

Should be fine. I once put a whole 300ml bottle into 2 litres of fuel. Didnt harm the bike in the slightest.

I've never really been sure that Redex does anything at all......

I mean, petrol is a damn good cleaner, so what more is Redex going to do?
I may be wrong, but its just a thought.
Thumbs Up

Any chemists here? I'd be surprised if the petrol stuff is more than coloured paraffin or white spirit with a dash of 2-stroke oil in it for lubrication. Maybe the secret ingredient is... people.

Ever tried cleaning out a varnished up carb? The varnish is formed by petrol deposits but petrol will not shift it. You can use redex mixed with petrol or even redex on it's own to clean it off though as it readily dissolves the stuff.

Probably makes very little difference when diluted and run through the engine but it doesn't appear to do any harm either. The only real way of cleaning injectors etc is ultrasonically or by removing them and bathing them in solvent but I suspect that the petrol based cleaners help.

Redex fouls plugs like you wouldn't believe. If you're not near a service I wouldn't bother.

Take the airbox off and spray some Wurth carb cleaner into the intakes whilst it's running - you'll hear the difference immediately. Then run a tank of super through it. Carbs cleaned Smile

Some time ago I had the Bandit running on just three plugs after a dose of Redex introduced some crap to the 4th plug....
Really worried me cos it was running like a dog until I managed to get it manually cleaned out.

It may have just been that the carbs were unbelievably dirty before??

I'm not doubting the effect, but I'm puzzled by the cause. How are the jets going to get cleaned when the engine is pulling the cleaner straight into the cylinder? What else could it be cleaning on the way through? Confused
