I use these quite a lot across euro land whenever possible.
All I want is a bed for the night that doesn't include me crawling into a bivi bag next to the bike and these do the job quite nicely for usually around £30 without having to book a sunday 3 months in advance like uk roadside hotels.

Well, I booked the one i'm in tonight via interwebz, wish i'd sone research first.

It's in the afghan suburb of paris called Clichy-sous-Bois, it's like the ghetto, the foyer seems to be a meeting place for the locals.

Found this on wiki -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clichy-sous-Bois

The crime and civil unrest section is a good read, if you're not spending the night Laughing

Hoping tomorrows offering at lille is better placed, seems to be ok after the minimal hunting i've done tonight

Sounds delightful, I have no illusions as what Paris is like outside of the fancy tourist spots and I have zero desire to go there. I was actually reading something on the news the other day about Japanese tourists having breakdowns when they discover what a crap hole Paris really is and having to be shipped back home to recover from it Laughing

It is an anti-moaning trip for other half

I get out here every few weeks and she's always "you see all the best places"

Now she knows the truth, can't see her wanting to come back in a rush.

Done all the sights with her, brussels tomorrow, calais/dunkirk for a day and then home

there are loads of Chinese tourists here though, none look too happy from what i could see

I stayed in an F1 hotel in Dijion after seeing people mention them on this site. The place was an absolute shit hole, full of refugee types. The room was dirty and smelled of smoke and the external showers and toilets nothing more than pods similar to those in Uni rooms and not suitable for the volume of traffic they see.

No thanks, i'll take my 15€ each and spend it on camping instead.

I tried to stay in the F1 in Dijon, but it was full (as was every other F1 I tried in France), fortunately there's a Khyraid hotel opposite which was a bit dearer, but more than adequate. Etap (the slightly better Accor Hotels brand) are slightly more expensive than F1 but perfectly adequate.

All i look for is somewhere to get head down that isn't a bus shelter.

Never had a F1 that's not been clean but they have all been refurbed in last few years so that might have something to do with it

I stayed in an F1 in a place called Croix for about four nights after my gpz500 fried its battery and cdi unit due to the regulator going haywire on the way back from Portugal while I was touring a few years ago.
They are very basically equipped but I like the idea of cheap no frills pay as you go accomodation which is what I needed at the time.
Seemed to be mainly migrants on their way through France it would seem, some of whom were virtually fighting with the cleaning/morning reception staff in the mornings. Not the best atmosphere!

I have lived in France for 10 years and spent the first 3 months in a Formula 1 in Thionville with the Wife and our cat ! I can't say I have ever had an issue but equally I never stay in one anywhere near a City as those do attract the local scum to be honest.

We have used them a lot. There are good and bad in every thing. Me I'll still going looking for them. Cheap clean. In and out no fuss. What more do you want. A good idea is to buy a pay as you go French phone. My one cost me about £25 with ten pound worth of call's on it. Made sense if you are calling in France.

The other thing I found is. If you know where you are staying when you leave an F1 ask the man to phone through for you to book the next one. That way you know a room is there waiting for you. Non of this full house. And have to go looking for a place late at night. Worked for me every time.

I've got the accor hotels app on my phone so can find somewhere close on the map and choose from any accor place to stay at on the map or list view with prices shown so can select the cheapest or most suitable.

A lot easier than booking in person and you get a booking code which you can use to access the hotel during any unmanned periods
