Bike stalls after oil change....

Since i did an oil change to regular 10/40 my bike starts and idles fine, but if i put it in first it stalls, even if the clutch lever is pulled in all the way. This goes away when the bike warms up. It just feels like it wants to lurch forward when its cold.
The old oil was black and thin, is it because the new oil is thicker and its making everything 'tighter'?

The clutch needs adjusting.

see the twisty bit where the cable meets the clutch lever?

Wind it out a bit.

I take it you've tried with the sidestand up?

If you don't do that you won't be able to start the bike or disengage the clutch properly, you pick.

Not unless you disconnect the sidestand switch. You cannot have the bike in gear and on the sidestand, it's a safety feature, so you don't ride off with the sidestand down Wink

Thats probably not the issue (although the clutch switch could have gone) the fact that its just after an oilchange suggests that its a genuine stall.

OP - not really, you can move it a bit, but not a great deal unless you have adjustable levers.

Erm... is it not just the clutch plates sticking? seems to be a fairly common occurence. Start it up cold in neutral, pull the clutch, firmly hold the rear brake on and knock it into gear WITH SOME REVS. should be fine from then onwards that day.
