Hi guys,

I’m currently looking to upgrade to another bike and looking for a dealer that will accept my current bike as part exchange.

Pictures about its condition:
https://www.sbiker.co.cc/honda-transalp-600/

Any idea about how much I could get for it in its current condition for a part exchange?

If I cannot find any dealer interesed, any clue about how much a breaker around London could offer for it?

Thanks for any idea.

More details:

* Translap XL600 VP
* I’m the 2nd owner of the bike (bought from a friend back in 2004 and riding it since then).
* This is the 1993 model, although my paperwork was stolen whilst in the UK and it was registered as 1989, but as said, it is the ’93 model
* It’s the Spanish model, so it comes with a Km/h clock
* ~49.000 miles, the engine has never given me any problem.
* I’d say that both tyres are still usable
* I’ll give it with top-case and Oxford muffs
* Plastic fairing is quite damaged
* Rear wheel rim is starting to rot, this is the main reason for buying another second hand bike
* I’ve got the exhaust cover (just where the break for the rear wheel is, under the foot) at home in case you manage to put it back, it doesn’t affect performance

Colour me surprised - I'd been under the impression that a mph speedo was required for an MOT, but apparently it's not even checked.

Sorry, I have no idea what that be worth. TBH, it's pretty scruffy, so a private sale would be more likely.

In theory it is required for new models, but this one was pretty old and I cannot remember if it's 10 or 15 years that they allow you to import it and pass MOT etc without changing anything...

I thought that maybe a part-exchange would be more worth it as I'll be buying another one (2nd hand) from them, or trying to see if I can get an idea about how much a scrapper/breaker could offer, not clue at all.

Its not worth a great deal mate, but i think you already know that.

Very difficult to put a value on it, might be worth just sticking it on ebay with no reserve and get what you can for it.
Thumbs Up

I've never bought/sold a bike privately, any idea about the paperwork that it would imply so I follow the right steps?

Paperwork is simple, just fill in the relevent parts on the V5 form (its clearly explained) and send it off to the DVLA.
