Hi guys, bought my sone one of these little things and theres a few problems that ive encountered.

1, slight oil leak, now it looks like its coming from the oil pump but i cant seem to find a gasket set on the net or an oil pump one.
would it be ok to take it off and then clean it all down and use some gasket sealer?

2, the bike seems to like to try and tick over at 4-5k rpm, if you then clip the throttle the revs drop and it stalls.
to restart it you need to activate the choke and hit the starter, it will fire and stall. deactivate the choke and fire it up and it ticks over again... but right up at 4-5k again.

does anyone know what could be causing this... go some plans to be stripping it down etc, however the tick over thing seems a little concerning.

nothing else yet but once i discover another problem i shall pop it back on here. i am between lincoln and scunthorpe if anyone is out this way and can shed some light?

thanks

Id check for air leaks. Running lean would explain the racing idle, and difficulty in starting. Make sure (with it being an rs 50) that some idiot hasnt fitted a k&n filter and not rejetted, and for air leaks around the carb rubbers. to check this spray some wd40 or similar all over the carb rubbers with the engine running.

Hope this helps.

If its an am6 engine there are many gasket sets on the bay, however there is no gasket for the oil pump,it is an O ring seal so should be easily
found from an engineer supplier or a decent bike shop. As well as checking for air leaks it may also be worth checking for frayed throttle/oil cables?
