It's been great apart from the rain shower yesterday! Laughing

It's been good to have the bike for a few months before needing to ride it to work, as it's given me the chance to build up confidence in the handling of it.

Something I have noticed, is that I was under the impression that us bikers all give each other a friendly nod as we pass each other.

I've been keenly nodding away at every passing biker going the othe rdirection, and only had about 2 reciprical nods Sad

Is it purely because I'm only on a 125 and no-one nods at biker noobs, or generally do people not do this these days?

Oh no. Not the dreaded bikers nod subject.

I'd drop this line of enquirey right away as it never goes down well.

Bottom line is: Some nod. Some dont. If you nod then continue to nod. If you get a nod back smile in the knowladge that you're part of the great biking family and its been recognised by a fellow biker. If you dont get a nod back just think.... Miserable bastard and forget it.

But what ever you do. Dont ask on here if the bikers nod exists. Its the old Elephant in the corner we dont talk about. Wink

That's my current stance on the matter anyway. Wink

It's been great this week, as I've been travellign to work the routes i used to take some years ago, and not being stuck stationary in traffic is awesome! Very Happy

I'm getting more confident in filtering, and it's actually quite reassuring that a lot more cars do seem to notice bikers and move over a little to allow you to pass. Still encountered the odd twat that refused to budge, even though I'd clocked him having seen me in his mirror.

Oh well.

The A3 isnt' such fun though, as I don't like feeling like I'm ragging the tits off my bike - so I've been hovering around the 45-50pmh mark (which is fine as for 80% of my time it's a 50 limit anyway).

Other than that, it's cool. When I'm based in the office and not at site, the ride is much nicer through the back roads of Weybridge/Esher/Epsom.

Could have been there, but I thought that as it was generally me being happy about joining the biking realm, rather than a query or discussion topic, I thought I'd pop it up here in an "off-topic" section.

Off-topic stuff usually ends up in Random Banter if it hasnt got anything to do with bikes, which your post clearly does hence it not being off topic.

Think of Dear Auntie BCF as a problem page full of teenage angst.

And why didnt you search for info about the "bikers nod"?

Well, seeing as I'm old enough to not qualify as a teenager by some 15 years, I guess this was the wrong section. Laughing

Honestly, it hadn't crossed my mind to seach for what I had considered to be an off-topic subject.

Clearly (as someone else kindly pointed out via PM earlier today), it is a white elephant subject, so that's fine - and hence my post up the page saying ignore it.

Apologies.

I'm going to try that. There's a bloke I pass every day, he's on a CB500 too, white helmet, Sam Browne belt, lights on regardless of conditions. I swear he's riding along, scared shitless when the bike hits 40mph, going "ohmygodohmygodohmygod" whilst retaining a death grip on the bars.

He will nod back. One day.
