Hi, me and a mate are doing a long weekend at the end of July to Wales, I would really appreciate if anyone could help us with a route that will take in great riding rounds and great views, we are setting off from Grantham and are camping, we want to go deep in to Wales and stop on the friday night and venture around then head back on the Sunday, so if you could recommend a good spot to camp on the Friday and any possible routes I would be extremely thankful.... its my Birthday weekend mini tour and want to make the best of it,

all the best

Wales isn't very big so personally I'd sod the idea of 'routes' and just meander about. Point yourself at a hilly bit and follow anything that looks interesting. If the weather looks crap in one direction, go in another.

It goes without saying that the north is better than the south.

Brecon, Builth Wells, Llandrindod Wells / A470 corridor is quite a favourite with locals...

but in my experience a large number of country A-roads in Powys Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire are pretty good.

If you follow the A483 as, I recommend camping in Rhayader. There is a nice campsite 'Wyeside Camping' situated a five minute walk from several pubs, shops, restaurants and a kebab shop.
