Actually its a 2009 CCM C-XR 125 which I believe is the same engine as the CG125? I have been after a CG125 for around a month now but cant find one I totally like with low enough miles.

Anyway I know of a xr125 for sale by a friend of a friend of a friend. It has an intermittent problem as follows: it cuts out for no apparent reason. It can go for miles without a problem but then suddenly will cut out. After 5 or 10 minutes, if left alone, it will restart again. Also, the battery needs replacing as its flat and currently relies on a kickstart. I am wondering if the two are linked. The main dealers dont know what the fault is because its intermittent.

If someone can help me answer a few questions I would be grateful:

1. Does the xr125 have the same engine as the cg125?
2. What could the fault be and what would the maximum cost be all things considered so I can budget accordingly? I really would get the fault fixed asap.
3. What is the bike worth?

2009 xr125 1800 miles, 2 keys, 12months tax, surface rust of some parts of bike. 1 mature owner from new who used it for commuting. Dont have any more information.

I know the CG125 is a great reliable bike but I'm a little worried about the fault.

What would be a good price to pay so I could be sure of fixing the fault and ending up with a very good bike?

Thanks in advance.

When he says it cuts out does he actually mean he accidently floods the engine.

Say coming to a stop quickly and not giving a blip on the throttle will make her cut out sometimes/flood then you have to wait till it clears

Just thinking of what happens to my CG

Same bore and stroke, but apparently OHC rather than OHV. You'd have to ask CCM.

Could be a lot of things. First thing I'd check is the side-stand cutout switch. Remove it or short it, see if that sorts it. If it's electrical, then it's an unbounded amount of time to find the problem, and probably 30 seconds to fix it.

What does this mean please?

My main, I mean only, reason for going for the CG125 is reliability. I dont care much about anything else so would the XR125 be in the same reliability class?

Thanks again in advance.

OHC just means that there is an OverHead Camshaft.

OHV means OverHead Valve.

SOHC = Single OverHead Cam

DOHC = Double OverHead Cams

Instead of having the pushrods that lift the arms the valves sit on to open and close them, there is an overhead shaft that turns and pushes down on the valves to open them.

Ride it with the fuel cap open, no cutting out = blocked breather. If it is it'll cost you a can of air or maybe a bit of solvent to clean it out.

IIRC the CCMs are chinese imports, so unlikely to be copies of CG engine, think most are OHV 'copies' of suzuki ones.

make sure also if the tanks breather pipes if it has any are not kinked up, thats what happened to my fazer, didnt make it cut out but would create a vacuum in the tank.
