hi,

me and 2 mates have booked a track day to donnington at the start of august.

it will be the first propper track day for all of us but me and one of the lads have done the ron haslam school at donnington a couple of years ago.

we will be riding down from west yorkshire (wakefield) and back on the day of the track day and were just looking for some advice really.

also ive just fitted some corsa 3's to my bike, are these any good in the wet if it decides to rain? im not the most confident in the wet.

the bikes are
k6 gsxr 600
k7 gsxr 750
57 fazer 600

cheers

apart from the tyres i was wondering how you go about overtaking if you're faster than someone. i dont mean that to sound like im expecting to be just dont know. were only booked on the beginner group as its our first one.

ive already checked brake pads and changed my oil so i think the bike is ready i think im just nervous more than anything.

Ive never done a track day but im guessing you wont be allowed to overtake in the novice group. If you are its best to get a good exit line and speed from a corner and pass on the straight, if you're crazy enough you should make sure you get ahead of them before you reach your brake marker to give them a chance to adjust for the corner.

Overtaking should ideally (especially in the novice group) be done on the power or on the brakes, after the corner or before the next one.

Overtaking a rider thats slower than you is pretty easy, generally in the novice group they dont go flat out down the straights so passing can be quite easy.

Overtaking is allowed in novice groups, just try and do it safely, don't treat it as a race where you have to get past x number of riders, just concentrate on *your* riding.

Bear in mind that you can't rely too much on the other riders in the novice group taking consistent lines, and they won't be checking their mirrors to know if you're there, so just pick each overtake on it's own merits.

No need to be too nervous about it, have a read of the track day sticky at the top of this forum, rock up to your trackday and have a good one Thumbs Up Thumbs Up .
