you can run with a missing flap . what you should do is to order flaps and shaft+nut at davidsilverspares , even if it takes 2/3 weeks , i think DSS will give you a 25% rebate
- 14201 KY4 901 flap right £19
- 14202 KY4 901 flap left £19
- 14211 KY4 900 valves shaft £14
- 91201 PA9 004 oil seal £ 3

just remember that the shaft nut is a left-hand thread . undo clockwise , i know numbers of NSR owners who broke the shaft trying to undo anticlockwise !

Aye thanks.

Would the performance or anything suffer from the missing flap though ?

no just a bit scrappier between 2000 and 7000 rpm due to the lack of flap closing . may be your flap is in the pipe , did you check that ?
also may be the shaft is broken in the middle , did you check that ?

No,

Took barrel to work to dissassemble. Someone took the flaps out of barrel.

Walked home with them in bag. Got home with only 1.

1 fell out somewhere. - Hole in bag i noticed.

Everything else is ok.

I guess i'll put engine back in, get it all working. Just lower engine enough to install that other flap when i receive it.

Thanks for the help !

ive just blown a hole out the side of the outlet when in the powerband for a prolonged period of time on the dual carriageway and ive removed the barrel and the valve flaps from the barrel and found the teeth on one of the flaps to be completely rounded, would this valve not opening in the powerband have caused the engine to blow? Neutral

well , i dont know what is the condition of your top-end but i suggest a top-end rebuild with the valves shaft and the 2 flaps
otherwise if you want to spend the less , take off the 2 flaps (or what remain of them) , put back the shaft . obviously , as you wont have a powervalve working , unplug the servo-motor
the engine will be just a bit scrapier going over 7500 rpm but no risk for it

ive bought a new barrel, piston kit, little end bearing, all gaskets required and a left hand valve flap, the right and the shaft dont have any damage so i will reuse them, the engine was rinning fine until i put shell v-power in it and i know this burns at a higher temp so if it was the fuel or the damaged flap that caused the engine to blow
