Decent bike I'd say - good entry level machine.
It's 18 speed (9 on the back, 2 chainrings).
Would be nice to get it for £300-350.
You will need shoes able to have cleats fitted for the pedals, and maybe the cleats too - not sure whether he'll chuck those in with the pedals.
I'm 6' and ride a 58cm Specialized, but I'd just check on their website for advice as that bike has 'compact frame geometry' and mine is too old for that. Suspect the frame sizes have been kept consistent however. |

It has 18 gears.
It's is a good make and in a part of the market where price-point is hard fought so probably as good a value as any other (and you're a step up from down-to-a-price bikes by there. I'd say the sweet spot is maybe £600-1000 before diminishing returns sets in especially for an average sort of person... people who race properly will probably spend that on a wheel!).
I wouldn't like to pay much more than £300 for it.... there'll be another one along soon.
As for does it fit.....? Not the easiest question as body shapes and preferences vary - I'd go to a bike shop and try similar sized bikes to get an idea. ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>
