Last night while riding out to do a survey I found my right mirror got blown towards me when I was doing about 60mph.

This should be an easy fix, tighten the screws at the base and job's a good 'un. Except the last owner seems to have stripped the cross out... So what would people suggest? I have minimal tools (student), and completely forgot about this until now, when I need the bike in an hour to go out and survey again.

Gaffa tape for the short term bodge?

these mirrors are crap, no matter how tight they are they still move.

The only thing that keeps them still a little lock nut inside the mirror stem at the base. Try taking the base stem cover off the top and see if you can tighten the mirror up - warning they break quite easily

Run a little Loctite into the joint, adjust mirror to suit and leave for a hour.

I solved it by the expedience of buying new mirrors. Took them out for a test today, and they worked a treat, no movement at high speeds. They seem to vibrate slightly more than my old ones, but even then they seem to be better, if that makes sense.

As an added bonus I also crash tested them, and the right hand mirror didn't move out of place! (The rest of the unit did, but the mirror stayed in place relative to it.)
