Why do some men shave their heads but leave long ringlets at the front and side?

Why the beards?

Why the skull caps?

Why the large rimmed black hats

I know that there is a small prayer at the entrance to each room, but why is it at an angle?

In this day and age with women trying to stop female circumcision amongst the african peoples, why is male circumcision not being stopped ( unless for medical reasons) and why is it done in the first place?

Thing is though, is that you can quite easily clean yourself properly with a foreskin. Daily shower, roll the thing back and have a scrub; it's not hard.

Of course, if for medical reasons you're unable to roll it back comfortably (case in point being my brother) then it makes sense to get it lopped off for hygiene reasons.

But to make a sweeping assumption that everyone with a foreskin is somehow not as clean as those without is absurd.

I agree that you can clean behind the foreskin. I also agree that not everyone with foreskin is dirty but the word 'cheese' or Smegma is something that happens and some people are dirty.

All I know is, I feel much cleaner using water after I use the toilet.

Ok, I see some rules as stating the obvious.

Like not eating with the same hand you wipe your arse with. wearing something on your head when living in a hot country prevents heat stroke, not committing adultery stops sexually transmitted diseases, thou shall not kill, eye for an eye stops you doing something nasty to someone else if you are going to get it done to you.
I can see how religion has evolved from cave dwellers passing down a good idea for basic survival into a ritualised format, but there must have been an origan for these.

Yes we all know the negative side of religions. But that a side, rules or good ideas were handed down fom one age to another and then became a religion. it is the little things I'm interested in as in the OP. Not whether it is believed or not.

A bit like the highway code, we drive on the left. as if we drove anywhere we would crash. Now some tome in the future someone may make it a religion, but for now it is good practice while on the road.
