So i got it back the other day, relatively good nick. near enough every one of the mounting points on the fairings are broken though, so they need to come off and will get sold.

Anyway.

I can turn the ignition on with a screwdriver, the lights all come on.

Then if i press the starter button..... nothing happens.

The clutch switch cable had been ripped out so i've re-attached that, but i can't figure out why it won't do anything when i press the button.

Off sidestand, in neutral, clutch in, still nothing.

Checked the fuses in the fusebox, but they're all okay, not had the time to take the starter solenoid yet, but will there be a fuse there that could be stopping it from starting?

can turn the engine over by bridging the two terminals so the engine's fine and the starter is fine.

Ideas?

Cheers

Its all going to be guess work till you change that ignition. The round bit with the copper blobs that turn when you turn the key, I take it that got smashed. If so good chance one is not making contact proper. You could spen hours trying this, that and the other just to find out its the fucked ignition. Is that the only damage the scum made to get the bike to run?

Would it still be that problem even if the lights all come on? I can get the neutral and oil lights on, just starting it that's the bugger.

I COULD cut the wires and properly hotwire it...

Very good chance yes. You have about six wires in there and you have managed to make conection for the lights to work but not the ignition. You need one so you might as well order one then take it from there.

Looking at this manual you want to cross red with orange and gray with brown. Just noticed you also have a circuit braker along the red wire close to the starter relay. This could be buggered if the scum have been playing around the electrics.

Also your engine start button you have a yellow with green tracer. This goes to the starter relay but via the clutch switch. Check said switch is intact.
