Okay having realised that I need to start to learn how to do things for myself I have ordered a Haynes manual for my CG and one for my Hornet but I haven't much in the way of tools just a couple of screwdrivers and spanners and a hammer.

So what I need to do is to get together a basic toolkit, one I can expand over time but I am unsure as to what to get. If anyone can help me with a list of tools that I should get I would really appreciate it.

A decent socket set is a good start. The Halfords Pro range is good for the home tinkerer.

SPANNERS!

FFS why does every one go crazy about sockets! FIRST tools they reach for, too....

Spanners are the start of every tool kit. They are simple, cheap and versatile. You'll also need a set to hold the end of the bolt you are trying to take the not of the back off... either with sockts or, if you are a bit canny, the second set of cheap spanners you got.

8mm-24mm is the common 'range'; and you can get a pretty good set for probably about a tenner....

I bought this a couple of weeks ago. It does everything.
8-10-12-13-14 Spanners are crucial too.
Instead of 1/2" socket set, I use electrical impact wrench.
