Bad luck mate
Not exactly the best of weather to be taking tests in either.
It really annoys me when people fail because of other inconsiderate and wankery people on the road rushing around being knobs..
Best of luck for next time round. Don't let it put you off and just think of the end result.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you Failed my MOD2 last wednesday for the second time. Like you, I'll admit that it was shambles the first time round but I was feeling confident for the second try. I failed on a pedestrian who decided to cross when I turned into the road and a speeding car that didn't allow me enough time to pass through a traffic calming measure.
Got my third try in just over a weeks time. In my case though, due to initially learning in Newcastle (not London, where I live), I have to pay for a £50 3 hour train back up North everytime I fail
My instructors keep saying that it took them all two tries to perfect it. Guess it all depends on the day Good luck for next time though |

Sorry to hear your bad news Footlong.
Got my MOD 2 coming up on Friday and admit to feeling some trepidation with regards to it.
Question to the floor is - what exactly is the score with a situation like footlongs? Seems to be damned if you do, screwed if you don't!
I thought safety was first and paramount. However, in this case failed for being slightly conservative?? and in wet weather?
Figuring the way the weather is - it's a very good chance I'll be doing mine in the wet. Ah well - got some training Wed & Thur so will be sure to absorb all that is pushed ____________________ CBT: 21 May 11 | Theory: 15 Jun 11 | MOD 1: 23 Jun 11| MOD 2: 22 Jul 11| Honda CBR600F: 19 Nov 11 | 20 years ambition - SORTED! |

they way it was explained to me did seem to make sense at the time (well i found myself nodding whilst he explained why i failed )
i must have just been going TOO slow - il be honet i dont remember thinking it was that slow.
I heard that if any other road user is forced to change their speed or direction because of your riding then its a fail. nob head in the 4x4 defo slowed down to avoid bulldozing me off the roundabout! although had he hit me it would obviously be him at fault. it really seems like a grey area to me.
i dunno, i completely understand the point the tester was making, it just seems harsh to have failed me for it. Why couldnt i just promise never to do it again?! |

I had to do my Mod 2 in the rain and was talking about going slower etc.. for the lack of grip etc.. and the way I was told is -
"why go slower..."?
Basically told me to maintain the normal road speed in a straight line but scrub a few mph on tighter bends and 4 secs between traffic for increased braking distance!
I'm all up for taking it easy in the wet stuff but, as we see, they fail people on the tests for it! Ludicrous!
Suppose the best advice (although totally absurd!) is to forget its raining and just ride as normal with a greater gap between traffic! Goes against all of humans instinct but what else can we do to appease DSA? ____________________ CBT - 01/05/2011 | Theory - 07/05/2011 | Mod 1 - 01/07/2011 | Mod 2 - 08/07/2011

When you get that pass certificate in your hand the money will be well spent! I can still remember the euphoric feeling of the examiner saying "I'm pleased to tell you.....", I felt under pressure because if I failed that day it was going to be a seven week wait due to work constraints plus I was supposed to be packing to go on holiday the same day.
Book another ASAP and chalk this one up to experience. Don't dwell on it and get yourself down otherwise when you come to take mod 2 again you will be pressuring yourself and adding unnecessary stress.
Good luck ____________________ Theory test - 19/8/09, CBT - 11/10/09, MOD 1 - 16/8/10, MOD 2 - 27/10/10

Bad luck bud, I failed first time as well not on a round-about, but a screwed up hill start, 2nd time I thought Iwas making to many mistakes, ie in wrong lane on a corkscrew round-about, managed to stop myself from lane changing, continued the exit and at the first oppertunity turned off the main highway into a cafe car park, the examiner asked what happend, I explained, he asked was I ok to continue and to return to the round about and continue as if nothing had happend, Oh well thats a fail I told myself, so I just rode for myself following his instructions of course, imagine my surprise and great delight when he said I passed and with only 2 minors ( observation and a missed lifesaver ) so take heart , as with the rain I was trained to ignore it, be aware of it and increase your distance to 4 secs. good luck on next test |

I will say this now, but three Module 2s is £225 if they are all done on weekdays.
For that price, you could have had a day or two's training PLUS the text included in the price with a training school where you are infinitely more likely to pass first time. Going into a test where you have never ridden in the rain is stupendous.
As for the wait between tests, when you aren't at work and you have your own motorcycle, go out practicing! If not and you have a car, practice in that or just go over it again and again in your head until it's second nature.
I wish you the best of luck with this one, but if you do fail your third Module 2 I would highly suggest booking a day of Module 2 training with a Motorcycle Riding School with the test booked at the end of the day through them, you will learn so much in one day that you don't even think about now, I'd guarantee it.
There is a reason motorcycle schools are there, so you can spend money on training and then pass first/second time rather than trying to teach yourself/get used to it with no riding other than the test/your riding and no professional instruction.
This is not meant to be a negative post, but spend smart, not more. Good luck with your test! ! ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."
