Car question, 2007 Renault Twingo 1.2 16v fuel pump

My fuel pump is whining in my car and driving me made, are fuel pumps ment to run contstanly when the engine is running ? and are you ment to be able to hear them ?

sure its the fuel pump ? power steering motor makes a similar noise

either way you shouldn't hear it, doesn't really mean its broken though :/ take it to a garage and ask them to have a quick look. preferably one you know, or know someone that somebody works out ?

audible whining is "more likely" to be power steering. do you know if its electric or hydraulic?

saying that, i had a fiesta st and they were wel known for boiling power st fluid which wrecked the viscosity and made the pump whine. new fluid always cured it, so maybe it just needs changed?

just looked and its electric. could still be fluid though, mates pug 407 whined when the fluid was low in the elec system.
