When I got my Harley last year it had generic slash cut pipes with no apparent baffles of any sort. The MOT tester must have been deaf or the dealer changed them before the test. Couldn't stand to ride the thing so bought some standard pipes from fleabay. Now its too civilized, sounds like a superdream. So purchased some perforated stainless from the bay rolled it welded on end caps to fit old pipes stuffed them with wadding and re-fit. Thummed the starter and woke up half the people in the grave yard opposite. Still at least it sounds like a Harley again Thumbs Up

I am going to Thumbs Up Karma him. I dont see why so many people on here ridicule the Harley riders - its BCF after all, not SportsBCF.

Hmmmm.

Harley's are pretty gay. But I like them. Then again, I'm secure in my sexuality, some people... Not so.

Thumbs Up

Its less about security in sexuality than a typical harley owners insecurity about their receding hairlines and expanding bellies.

Harleys arn't my thing and although the sexuality of some of their riders may be questionable, I think I'll refrain from hurling abuse at anyone who even mentions Harley. Laughing

P.S...they sound like shit

In my opinion, of course. Razz

Meh, it's a niche market. Men who like leather and tassles, and 14 second quarter miles.

However, live and let live, and it's still a bike. Wouldn't say no to a screaming eagle V-rod, however. Though I would have to sell my big bore Thunderbird to afford one Wink

I very much doubt a HD can do a standing 14 sec 1/4.

Well, when I first got my sportsbike, there were a few HD riders going the opposite direction to me, the first one I did a nod to, got nothing back, the next one, I did a full on wavey hand wave to...and he gave me the finger. Laughing

I actually got a friendly wave from some guy on a cruiser in Weston after sticking my leg out as he thundered past........needless to say it wasn't a Harley

I'm sure not all Harley riders are arrogent, self obsessed tank riders but thats the impression i've got from every one i've met.

What, so you can't get a purple powerband for a Harley any more?

Lot of generalisation in this. We are aware that Harley make fast bikes aren't we?

No, they make a couple of fairly quick bikes. Not fast ones.

An SV650 (Not the best handling bike in the world) could out handle Harleys entire production run, costs a tenth of the price, and you dont need assless chaps and a pisspot lid to ride!

That's odd, I'm fairly sure they made the fastest ever accelerating production bike. A totally stock Night Rod will give a low 11 second 1/4 mile, or enough to blow away the majority of supercars.

ZZR1400 does a high 9 second quarter mile when standard with a decent rider on board. Blows the HD into the middle of next week.

All 1000cc sports bikes will post times between 10 and 10.5 for the quarter mile, some supersport bikes will even be pretty similar to the low 11 second mark.

*cough* Harley Davison Destroyer *cough*

8 second quarters out of the box. Not road legal, but it was a production bike made by Harley in decent numbers. Over 500 if I recall. As far as I know, it's the fastest ever production bike made by a factory as stock in the 1/4 mile (possible exception of some big boss hoss things, but those are custom spec)

If it's not road legal it's pretty irrelevent to the debate IMO.
