can anyone explain how i measure the output of my bikes alternator?

i want to find out the voltage and the amps its putting out.

or does anyone know the output of the generator on a honda crm 250?

Just unplug it and test it with a multimeter. Make sure you select AC voltage

Eh, bear in mind it's unregulated, so if you are trying to measure it then it's going to depend what load it has on it. If you unplug it and so don't put a load on (no amps) you'll get a lot of volts (typically 70-100AC) and if you put a big load on (many amps) you'll get a significantly lower voltage (it will approach zero).

I suspect what you're trying to do is discover if your alternator can supply regulated 12VDC @ enough amps to charge the battery and run the lights @ XXXX rpm, which will require a whole lot more messing about to actually measure, so you're right to go back to your first instinct and see if someone has that written down somewhere.
