Hi, just got a Shoei Qwest and it came with a Pinlock insert to be fitted. The instructions say 'Bend the shield/visor carefully until it becomes flat'.

Heart in mouth I've tried to flatten mine and almost got there, then it seemed that when I got one bit flat, another part popped up so I can't get the whole thing to stay flat and I'm bricking it in case I break it.

Any advice please....

(And yes, I did take the visor off the helmet first, in case anyone asks Very Happy )

slip one end of the pinlock into one of the pins, flatten visor by tucking one end under your elbow until the pinlock fits into the other end of the visor pin and then let go.

I usually use my hand and sort of half way between my wrist and my elbow. The pinlock can be bent a bit too - just get the correct bit under the pin then flatten the rest down and it'll pop into place.

Kinda hard to explain Confused

Just give it another go - you will have to try pretty hard to actually break it.

I've given up trying to get it flat. I don't believe it's possible. I've got it fitted using a similar method to Darth and it seems OK.

The pin lock pins turn and this adjusts the distance between them slightly. This should enable you to get it on properly.

I locate one end and place the insert in position till about midway across the visor, feed the other end into place and then bend the visor out until it pops into place.

I've got about 3mm play between the insert and the pins when the visor is bent out as far as I comfortably go.

Yes this is correct. Been wearing pinlocks for years now.

As I said I got it fitted OK but not by flattening the visor. As a matter of interest has anyone actually managed to fit it it as per the instructions, ie have you completely flattened the visor?
