Hiya peeps,

Been watching with interest on Rossi's performance on the Yamaha and from initial indications my opinion is that he will win the title this year.

It will be interesting to see how Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards do, they are my other favourites.

The Yamaha is down on power but that's a good thing as it makes the bike more usable.

Rossi will win not from first positions but by being consistently 1,2,3 every race.

First day Philip Island

Edwards (Honda) 1m31.06
Gibernau (Honda) 1m31.37
Rossi (Yamaha) 1m31.40
Biaggi (Honda) 1m31.40
Hayden (Honda) 1m31.50
Barros (Honda) 1m31.75
Tamada (Honda) 1m31.85
Capirossi (Ducati) 1m32.16
Bayliss (Ducati) 1m32.45
Hodgson (Ducati) 1m33.23

Second day Philip Island

Capirossi (Ducati) 1m30.71
Rossi (Yamaha) 1m30.75
Gibernau (Honda) 1m30.81
Edwards (Honda) 1m30.97
Biaggi (Honda) 1m31.07
Hayden (Honda) 1m31.18
Tamada (Honda) 1m31.25
Bayliss (Ducati) 1m31.56
Barros (Honda) 1m31.59
Xaus (Ducati) 1m31.64
Hodgson (Ducati) 1m31.77
Melandri (Yamaha) 1m31.70
Checa (Yamaha) 1m31.80
Abe (Yamaha) 1m33.74

When that Yamaha finds more torque to match the Honda's and Ducati's that will be interesting to watch.

Comments please.

Kevo.

Rossi is so good that you could put him on the proton and he would win!

They should take away his front wheel to give the others a chance.

It wouldn't make much difference - he's always lifting it anyway!!!

You might just be right there Kevo. I didn't think he had a chance but these results are looking good for him.

Thats if Yamaha can keep the bike going for a full race.

I was reading some quotes in a couple of mags from some of the racers. They seem to think that Rossi will win some races but won't take the title this year. They were saying that the patten throughout his career is one year to learn and one year to win.

Yamaha also let some journalists ride the M1 and the feeling was that it's quite a brutal machine, a bit like the old 500cc two strokes used to be. I think it was Trans World Sport at the weekend, an ex-racer rode it and said the same thing. He was saying that the RCV was a much more neutral machine and was far easier to ride, but I recon if anyone can tame and win on the M1 it's Rossi. Either way it looks set to be one of the best seasons for a longtime.

I hope so, I think the main issue is going to be consistancy and avoiding mistakes.

Look at some of the races last year, Biaggi should have won more but made mistakes as he can't push more than his style of riding allows.

I don't think Rossi is riding to the limit , he's holding back putting the other teams under a false pretence. When the first race starts he'll open that gap more.

Regards,
Kevo.

I'm glad to see Rossi is doing well on the Yamaha. Last year people were starting to say that he was doing so well because of having the best bike, and all the money Honda pours into it's racing. This should shut them up because arguably the Ducati and Honda are both better bikes than the Yamaha, with much more financial backing. Rossi rules!
