2007 Z1000 smoking problem

my dad has a zed thats started smoking today, its fine on idle but rev it into the midrange and it smokes

oil level was spot on, air filter was clean.. i'll order new oil & filter in the week.

any ideas? no FI light or fault code logged but its got to be either running really rich or burning oil?

reckon its worth checking the plugs?

What colour is the smoke?

Blue smoke is oil smoke and I'd be concerned. Black smoke not so much.
