Was pulling up and parking up in the bike bay outside the hospital in Reading today when ahead of me there was a minicab de-assing a gipsy family and accompanying young mothers in front of me.
The kids, about five of them I think, oblivious to the bike behind them just standing in the road and there Mum barely even getting them to move.
So I manage to get around the ignorant little blighters park up and get ready to walk off when whats going on, the gipsy kids have decided they're going to play motorbikes and have jumped on to two scooters parked up there while their mum ignores all of it and keeps on chatting to the other one. Sitting their revving away someone else's bike emulating bike engine noises and the parents do nothing!
How would you take to a mum letting her kids jump on your parked bike as if it was perfectly ok?! Maybe I'm a little sensitive to this sort of thing, sure it wasn't my bike, but still how can you stand on watching your kids playing games with someone else's property?

It's out of order, simple as.

It shows no basic respect for other people's property whatsoever and we should not be surprised that kids today are accused of being "chavs", etc. when the parents let them behave this way.

I agree, that's kind of what I thought. Its the respect for other people's property that was lacking I think, would someone be happy with me clambering over their car?
I felt like saying something but with a bunch of gobby gipsies what good's it going to do? Anyway I walked away disgusted, don't know what would have happened if they did that to mine!

Happens all the time in Hayes, and it doesn't matter if its pikes, blacks, Indian, polish, or British. Annoyingly its my local town and I always seem to end up leaving my bike there at some point. Have come back to find it laying on the ground or with kids sitting on it enough times to convince me I wont be buying a faired bike again until I move home.

When I worked in Leeds city centre I used to park down a residential road near the university. One day I was walking back to my car and some gypsies/travellers trotted past on a horse drawn cart laden with hay bales. There go some proper travellers I thought, rather than the ones in a Transit pick-up filled with washing machines and pushbikes, so imagine my delight when the particularly hefty mother of the group dropped off the back of the wagon, pulled her leggings down to her ankles and proceeded to piss all over the road while folks with their kids walked past.

I love gypsies. They're so charismatic.

Kids are kids, born with nothing in their heads, it's all put there. Blame the parents. Doesn't matter if its gypsies or Gilmours's lad swinging from a cenotaph its down to the mum and dad.

I parked in a Tesco carpark about 11.30pm a couple of months ago.
I came out of the store 5 mins or so later to find a 17/18 yr old lad sitting on my bike!

I walked over to him and said "that your bike mate?" to which he said "F**k off"

So, I grabbed him by the neck and dragged him off my bike, throwing him into the trolleys Smile (Im a big lad Smile)

One of his mates sauntered over a little aggressively, "You want some as well mate?" I said "No, no he said, just seeing what was going on" Smile

You park your bike in Hayes? You're mental. I've only ever felt the need to park in Hayes once, and then I was in view of my bike the whole time. It's an absolute dump.

I've grown up nearby and seen it turn from a small town into a pit to dump societies' scum. A friend of mine used to walk the beat there as a plastic policeman. He told me the quantity of weapons seized and found there is disgusting, from pen knifes to samurai swords and blank firing pistols to two used AK47 magazines one containing two live rounds.

If I ever need anything it's more worthwhile and safer popping to Uxbridge.

My nan who is getting on lives next to the main roundabout just outside of town (literally 12 houses up the road) and I am the only member of the family left in London let alone the area. So she gets visits.

I also pass through Hayes on an almost daily basis, so the thought of just stopping off at the Sainsburys to grab some shopping and stuff often takes me.

And yes its a crap hole. My mum and dad grew up there, and we have lived in or near Hayes most of our lives. Now I just want to leave, and heck get away from Hillingdon all together now. My mum escaped and went to moved to great yarmouth in the end.

If it was my bike I'd tell the parents to either get their little scroats off my bike or I will do it and I wouldnt be as nice about doing it as the parents.

Edit for a story:

Last xmas I was out doing a little bit of shopping. Little old lady behind me in the queue asked me if it was my bike parked outside. I dont know, the helmet in my hand might have been a give away. She then went on to tell me her 13 year old grandson was outside dribbling over it. I went out after paying for my shopping to find him standing drooling with his parents over the bike. He wasnt touching the bike and I asked if he wanted a seat.

I think I made a biker there and then. I sat the little guy on the bike and started it up for him. Showed him the throttle and the grin on his face when he revved it up was golden.

I lifted him off the bike and granny said I had just made the kids xmas. Bless.

That I dont mind. You want to look at the bike, fine, You want to sit on the bike I'll happily let you.

Had I gone out to find him sitting on the bike I would have trailed the little bastard off and wouldnt have been nice about it.

Was trying to park outside the Main Entrance to Addenbrookes (Cambridge) earlier in the week as the misses was rushed in, when i got to the bike bay there was a ton of gipsys with even more kids all around the entrance.

The kids were amazed at the bike, all staring at it. I put the disc lock on (just in case) and also armed the alarm. Then went into the entrance and hung around for a minute to see if any of the little shits touched it/got on it.

Sure enough, within 60 seconds of my leaving the bike, some little pikey shit tried to climb aboard..... cue 120db of screeching alarm practically in his ear hole. He swiftly removed himself from the bike and i was chuffed that the little 99p eBay alarm did its job Very Happy

I'm in Huntingdon, can't say I've ever had anyone go near my bike, the occassional look. IF i saw someone sitting on it then i'd have my helmet firmly gripped in my hand ready for a swing.

Do you ever go up Hartford Marina Carlos?

You sure do know how to gimme that warm fuzzy feeling Mr. Green

I once tried that with my nephew who's 6. Was mesmerised by my old GS500, so I let him start it up, and rev the engine. Didn't quite have the effect I wanted when he revved it to high and scared the shit out of himself Laughing
