Has anyone fitted a TomTom satnav to a bike ?

I've fitted the cable and power lead from the battery. After fitting the satnav and connecting the power lead extension i switched the bike ignition on. The light on the satnav didn't light up. Is this normal until the bike is fired up ?

Hope someone can help, as i want to do some touring on my bike this summer.

Confused Its all very unclear.

If its a car sat nav, what cables are we talking about? I'm assuming you mean the recharging cable?

And have you fitted this cable directly to the battery? No fuse in between?

I've fitted a TomTom to the bike.

I bought a RAM mount from the States, which houses it perfectly.

For the power, I fitted a cigarette lighter socket under the seat.

I Plug a USB cigarette lighter socket, in to it, I then ran a 4 foot USB cable to the TomTom.

How have you wired it? Pictures may help me diagnose.

I lashed a TomTom 710 to mine with Velcro, running the charger from a cigarette lighter wired to the battery (fused). Light comes on regardless of ignition status. If you're wired to a permanent 12v then yours should act the same. Check the fuse in the wiring and in the charger itself.

I'll check the fuse in the cable this weekend. as suspect it may be no good. I've emailed the company that makes the mounting that allows the unit to be mounted at the headstock nut.
