Hi guys just looking for some advice, i have had the KTM for over a year now and im wanting to try and move away from really sticky tyres as they simply don't last in the highlands. I have been using

Michelin Power Pure - Excellent grip but square off very quickly
Pirelli Sync - Stock tyre with the KTM 990 but if find the same as above

I have used the Power Pure on the track and think they are great for the track but don't last up in the highlands.

Im just not sure about sticking a set of touring tyres on the SM as its twitchy at times and don't want to end up in ditch.

Should i just stick to sticky tyres that am used to or do i try not so sticky touring tyres that will save the wallet.

Have you thought of Conti Trail Attacks, they are designed for big tralies like the Varadero, GS, V Strom.

I've used them for a while now and they give loads of confidence with good mileage.

There are loads of big trail bike riders who use the Conti Road Attacks and like them.

mine went on at 4kish and the bike has now done 7.5K, tis squared slightly but that is down to far too many motorway miles.

Admittedly i'm not hugley harsh on tyres.

Cant see you having a problem with grip on the road using a set of touring biased tyres.

Im running a set of Pilot Road 2's and they offer the same levels of grip on the road as pretty much every other tyre ive used...

A friend of mine used a set of Bridgestone Battlewings on a KLE500 on a trackday round Mallory. Was fast enough to keep pace in the Inters and never had a moment on them.
