looks good, goes to show no matter what bike you get cheap to do up, end up as money pits.

My GP100 was 60 quid but cost me another 400 - 500 quid to make it reasonably presentable but then I have had fun doing the work and its for keeps. Yes most of my money went on the consumbles but you kinda feel you pay for that on any bike we own, just not in one go.

That lot is all consumables, you paid for them all once and if you own the bike long enough you'll pay for them again. If you count them towards the amount the bike has cost you, you might as well include engine oil, petrol & insurance.

I bought a 97 Divvy for £400 that wanted for nothing, used it for 4-5 months and then sold it for £800. Crashed divvy's are never great investments as they're never worth that much in the first place!

They're not even bad bikes. They're reliable, simple, cheap to run, comfortable not that bad looking, they're just not sexy or much fun. To get you to work and back they're just about spot on though!

yeah i heard there reliable, and to be honest when they said 200 quid i just couldn't say no Smile

tbh i could of broken it for parts and if i did break it for parts i wouldn't be so good spraying panels over and over again Rolling Eyes but i think it has turned out nice for a project and for a 18 yr old..tbh

I ran a divvy for 3 years and put 30,000 miles on it. The only things I ever had to replace were consumables until one day the thrust bearing in the clutch died. It was getting tired anyway and I'd out grown it so I bought a new bike but still managed to sell the broken divvy for £400.

They're great bikes for getting about on and are way better than the usual GPZ/CB/ER commuter twins that are also commonly bought for that kind of riding. If I needed another road bike for just general hacking about on I'd buy another one of these without much hesitation!

I think I got it down to about £150 TPF+T at 22 but that was with 5 years NCB and in a good area. Not garaged though and there was no security listed.
