Sounds more like a gay porno.

I have now got New Amsterdam/Better Call Saul on back boilers because I saw something advertised about the 3-part iPlayer series on the Beeb about the Novichok thing in Salisbury (seeing as how I am apparently running hot and cold about moving down that way).

So I am watching that instead at the moment. Shocked

Das Boot on Sky (2 series's now) is a good watch if you like WW2 stuff. In german, so subtitles. If you've see the original film (it was on Sony Movies recently) it's similar story but picture / effects brought up to date. They also have a storyline on the submarine base as well as on the boat.

Recent film on Netflix: The Platform. Weird but quite thought provoking (and subtitled - spanish)

Is that the thing with the poor haggard looking British actress in who the instant she turned thirty can only be cast as a poor haggard downtrodden British woman? Has anyone else noticed how British TV does that to actresses?

The original was damned awsome, one of the most atmospheric dramas ever. Ive watched it recently and the effects are pretty good too. I would like to see the remake but worried it would be modern CGI over gripping story.

Black Sun
Serbian detective series set in 1920s Belgrade. Its subtitled but worth it. It's the usual offbeat alchy 'tec paired with straight up just out of detective college new boy to investigate a murdered Russian orthodox priest. All set against the complicated post ww1 and Russian revolution backdrop. Its well scripted, filmed and acted. Different and a bit whaky, it seems Belgrade was a hotbed of opium trading and dodgy politics back in the day and the series captures the atmosphere very well. It's on Amazon Prime.

That's one of those films I really don't want to see the remake either. Certain films shouldn't have remakes, sequels etc. It just detracts from what a wonderful job they did with the original.

My Grandad (former Submariner, was quite busy in the Med and then Pacific), used that film to put me off ever joining the Navy.

Problem was it just sent me to the Army instead Laughing

I tried to get into Peaky Blinders again.
But I am struggling with staying awake/losing the will to live.

I never have been one for mawkish Irish sentimentality.
It's doing my brain in, and not enough to keep my interest.

But just in case I keep wading through this turgid jizzfest ... is the singing barmaid an undercover cop working for Sam Neill character?

Cos that would make it just about bearable Rolling Eyes

I must admit, if I had joined the Grey Funnel Fleet the last department I would have wanted was submarines.

However I elected to become a real sailor rather than join the harbour queens with the pretty uniforms. Wink

Currently revisiting Red Dwarf on Netflix

Now on series 3 - the one where Kryton joins the crew

Good, non-pc comedy.

He did it for the extra pay and the scruffy non-military way they dressed (he wasn't really the military type). He didn't factor Japan entering the war in to that though so his cushy floating about under the Med sinking poorly armed merchants turned in to hell attacking Jap convoys and other subs in the Pacific. Gave him some good stories though, he was one of the first boats in to HK after liberation and got an extended holiday there because they hooked his sub up as a giant generator to power stuff and then he got in on a Pacific victory tour so got to visit Oz, NZ, etc...... at a time when the next best traveled person in our family had just walked to Germany, so this was proper exotic stuff at the time.

The English game (Netflix) - 8/10

The story of how football became a thing. Six episodes, well made, not the usual type of show I'd watch but I did enjoy it.

Not sure if it was a LONG film or a one-off long series of two or three episodes, but I just watched "Zodiac" which I found on Netflix.

Some murder-chasing peeps looking for some guy in the late 1960s and early 70s.

It might just be that I am in a highly emotional state of intoxication, but I found it engaging to watch, and the last hour was brilliantly creepy in a frustrating ending kind of way. Possibly its based on a true story? Thinking

Odd flashes of funky 70s fashion that made it feel a bit Starsky and Hutchish in places. But that wasn't at all a bad thing.

Dark, mind bending German time travel drama. It's dubbed but quite well. I've finished all three series and it's a trip, not sure I understand what happened though ad the plot is labyrinthine.

Thought that was part of the description, thoughhhhh, didn't I.
Bounce! Laughing Dance!

I am drawn ... but the labyrinthine plot worries me somewhat.
I struggle with plots in general, I tend to lose them easily.
But it sounds interesting. Cool

Best bet: start watching the series when mind is completely straight and unfettered with intoxicants.
So I guess I'll give it a go now, whilst twatted, and the mind is open to the concept of labyrinthine experience.

Shut up, Jen.
Go away!
