Jojo's Bizarre Adventure erm, not so much. I have no idea why this is supposed to be a popular anime but there's a certain "car crash" element in trying to figure out the aesthetic. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba on the other hand is much more straightforward and wholesome.

Sopranos, The Wire, The Shield and Narcos are pretty much the best things you can stream.

Oh great, so now I'm gonna have to watch it to see if I can understand what dey sayin.

Admittedly, since my daughter grew up and moved away, I don't get to hear so much street slang, but I still like to learn it when I hear it.

The only reason I like to understand what those yoots are saying is so I know if they are talking about me. Then I can respond to them in their own slang when they are least expecting it.

From (2022, on HBO Max) - 8/10

It's a mystery/horror story about a city, that entraps people, and they're trying to figure out how to get out and what is going on. I finished the first season and so far so good.

EDIT: Finished the second season, still alright. And apparently the same writer/s who worked on the LOST series also worked on this one. That's why it feels so familiar.

I've just done S1 of this too. Reminds me a lot of 'Lost'.

Hope they can think of a better ending!

The horror of Delores Roach.

Comedy drama/horror on Amazon Prime

Newly released from prison Delores starts a massage business in the basement of a pals struggling Empanada eatery. Gets bloody apparently but ive only watched the first two episodes so far but its got me booked in for episode 3 as the script is good and the characters engaging.

Good call! I'm into episode 3 now.

The main chick really reminds me of my best friend in NZ the way she looked 40 years ago when we were both sweet young thangs (but not so Noo-Yorkish).

^^ This Dolores Roach thing is some mad-ass series ^^

I love fuckin love Noo Yorkers, I even loved Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems (and I fuckin hate Adam Sandler).

... but this is a bit more basket-case than even I was expecting Laughing

Its very daft.
Funny, gory, manic ...

"Ohhhh shit ...! ... The 5-0 comin'!" Laughing Laughing

Ridiculously hilariously excellently daft. Mad-as Mr. Green

EDIT: Finished it. Jesus that was barking Laughing

Hannibal, Netflix (quite old)

Not noticed Mads Mikklesen in much else before.
He has that same knack as Christoph Woltz (and Steve Buscemi) of being crazy whilst appearing perfectly sane.

Painkiller (2023, on Netflix) - 7/10

A short series about the American opioid epidemic. It's a drama inspired by real events about the origins of the epidemic, causes, also the victims of the epidemic, investigation and how the system works/ed.

Also, it's been awhile since I saw Matthew Broderick in anything.

Been a while since I've been through it but I've started again on Blake's 7...

Jeez, I really didn't remember it being so harsh. A key resistance fighter goes through re-education program, remaining resistance fighters try and bring him back into the fold then all get massacred. The man in question gets put away on trumped up kiddy fiddling changes.

Epstein Island anyone?

Currently engrossed in MANIFEST on Netflix.

Plane on the way back from Jamaica to New York goes missing (ostensibly in the Bermuda Triangle) for 5 years and then shows up, and all the people on the flight feel like nothing happened except a bit of an electrical storm, so they haven't aged but their friends and fam have given them up for lost.

Weird shit starts to happen and the FBI get busy.
Not bad, but only two seasons.
I'm halfway through season 1.

EDIT: Hmmm, not recommending the end of season 2 so much, its all gone a bit daft now Rolling Eyes Shame, the first season was really pretty good.

The thing I'm finding with watching Blake's 7 is it's so terrible (with regards to production quality) it's almost like reading a book in that your imagination has to do the work. You get more appreciation for concepts in the story.

I rewatched Blakes 7 a couple of years back and really enjoyed it
Yep the sets, effects n stuff are dated, but after a while it didn't bother me.
Still far better than some of the pretty but weak/woke shite on now

Expanse and few others being noteable exceptions.

Beforeigners ( 7.8 imdb) is Norwegian sci fi series worth a watch IMO
it does have subtitles though which can put some folk off

Another Norwegian TV series I liked was Norsemen (7.7 imdb)
Pretty funny I thought.
No subs needed as they did every scene in Norwegian then English

Lillyhammer (7.9 imdb) is another Norwegian comedy/drama series
worth mentioning too
might need subs for norwegian parts though

I found these when tired of the formulaic US stuff and wanted a change

I've recently watched season 1 of Foundation and thought it was pretty damn good.
Anyone who's read the Asimov books may well moan about it and possibly with some justification, but as I read them feckin years ago and can't recall shit about the details, it was kind of new to me and allowed to enjoy it without comparing it.

I look forward to season 2

Foundation has absolutely nothing to do with Asimovs stories other than general ideas and themes. None the less I'm awaiting eposide 9 of season 2.
