Black Sails returns for the final season this Sunday! Yerrrrsssssss.

Black Sails is quite simply the best series at the moment.
The Walking Dead is boring me shitless, Game of Throne is cool enough, but I've not looked forward to the start of a series with so much anticipation.

Anyone that hasn't watched this, is missing out on TV gold.

Was the first series any good? Reading reviews it seems to be the second series that's highly rated, if it's like breaking bad I'll lose interest before making it that far.

It's a story, so the first series was setting the scene for 2 and 3, which for me got better and better.
That's not to say Season 1 was bad or even mediocre, it was great, it's just that 2 and 3 were amazing.

The budget is high and there's loads of big money scenes all over the episodes, you cant fail to be impressed by that alone. The side stories are good too, so there's plenty of things going on that are of interest at any given point. If I had to explain it, I would say that it's like Game of Thrones, but at sea. Instead of the houses, you have bands of pirates and instead of the Iron Bank, you have The Crown. That's being unfair to it though, it's not that simple. The storylines are not as complex as GoT, but they are every bit as gripping. The story of flint and his past that finally catches up with him was (for me at least) as good as anything GoT has ever mustered.

Watch it, you've only got your free time to lose if you don't like it, but if you give up in Season 1, you're going to miss out on the best bits.

That might not be a bad thing. With GoT you're sometimes sitting their drawing out family trees trying to work out what's going on Very Happy

I'll give it a go Thumbs Up I haven't got any series on the go ATM, I'm waiting for GoT, Walking dead etc. to resume.

I started watching it ages ago (when it was on E4) but there wasn't enough to keep me interested, even the fit girl from Neighbours Embarassed

started watching Preacher, only 2 episodes in, enjoying it so far

any fans of AMC shows, DC comics (detective comics comics Surprised ) or Goldberg/Rogen (directing) should give it a watch

It's 6 episodes worth of plot crammed into 16 episodes of screen time, and takes itself way too seriously. It becomes less and less credible why the titular titan doesn't wrap it up half way through (each episode and the whole season) by just punching the appropriate heads off. It's practically the opposite of Jessica Jones in that respect.

Mmm.

4 hours in.

Many mediocre bewbs.

Not many piracy.

Seems to be 55 minutes of "Captain Bunghole is a slag." / "No, you're the slag, you slaaaaag," Eastenders style growling and chest bumping, rounded off by 30 seconds of fisticuffs to terminate a couple of random end-crediters.

Bunch of sulky sods as well. Cheers up, mate, worse things 'appen at sea. If you ever get there.

My timbers remain resolutely unshivered thus far.

Granted, it's not full on dragons and bewbs levels of bewbs - but it has people dressed as pyrites getting wet on boats.

Until zombies come back on again, it'll do for me.

5 hours in here. The first 4 were like a piratey version of Eastenders, without spoiling anything it looks like it gets better (I hope so anyway).

S3, Ep5 - she tufts his forelock and the gait is...aw bollocks - I just get the horn over sails and wave crests. You don't get that from Peak Practice.

Sure, I can tie a cunt splice blindfold.

But it's vastly lubbery at the moment. How long before I actually get satisfied by some salty seamen?

Preacher has entertained me enough to make me buy the first couple of books. Loving the camera work and lighting.

I've been watching The Expanse on Netflix. Meh. Can't care about the characters, therefore don't care about the plot. They cast an Iranian as an Indian (exact same thing, right?) and it's venting my gas that they can't decide whether they're doing hard science or space opera. The scenes when the directors and actors remember that they're meant to be in zero or low G or vacuum are jarring since most of the time they don't bother. Like, it's nice that you put in a CGI bird gently fluttering in Ceres's 0.029g, but that just draws attention to fact that everything else is behaving like it's 1g. I could suspend my disbelief if you didn't keep reminding me why I shouldn't. Thumbs Down
