It's Marvel, so I gave it a shot. It's a headfuck, but it seems to be coming together rather well.

Downloaded and did it this week, adored it. So much better than Ironmanfistman, which seems to be ambling nowhere in any particular hurry.

Joke's on you, if they release an episode a week, I'll be 45 by the time E5 hits and can binge safely.

Private Sales on Amazon Prine.

College drop out and recently orphaned after his parents murders gets dodgy job taxiing "escorts" to their clients.

Its very low key and refreshing that it doesn't have any big name actors. Its not very slick in its production values but thats made up for by a good script. It reminded me of how tv dramas used to be before they became mega budget star machines.

Outlander, ok sounds a bit lame but got pretty hooked on this. It's based around a ww2 nurse that goes to scotland and time travels through some stones. She ends up back in 1743 and tries to stop the scottish revolution with the Jacobites.

Caitriona Balfe and Lotte Verbeek are in it and there are some really nice scenes in some of the episodes Razz

I watched one episode of Outlander. Nicely filmed, all professional, but not my thing, was lacking something, but don't know what.

Wentworth on the other hand....
Was a fan of Prisoner (Cell block H) way back in t'olden days, spotted Wentworth on Amazon Prime.
Started to watch, not expecting much, instantly hooked.
OMG it's emotional in parts. I never get emo'd by tv stuff, pff!

Sneaky Pete is also worth a watch.

Just finished watching the last series of HOMELAND

Got to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters have been consistent right the way throughout, and it is quite 'close to the bone' regarding the current terrorist threats/actions that we have come to recognize.

Can't wait for the next series Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Return

This one should possibly go in the Geek Zone.

MST3K:TR is a Kickstarted-to-Netflix revival (don't call it a reboot) of a super low budget 'Murcan cult cable show where a bloke is trapped in an experiment on a satellite and forced to watch awful old (mostly) SF movies with a couple of kitbashed robot puppets, for Mad Science.

If that makes no sense, well, you're Not Of The Body and should probably stop reading now.

The casting is Jonah Ray (bloke), Felicia Day (mad scientist) and a few other assorted Famous On The Internets people dropping by. It's written/run by the original MST3K creator and has a vast writing crew - although that's not necessarily a positive.

The format is simple enough. Everyman Jonah and everybots Crow and Servo provide corny/witty/mocking (but rarely sarcastic) commentary on awful movies. There are Blue Peter style interludes at a table, there's a Skeleton Crew band, and yes, Felicia Day sings on the internet, but that's your whack.

If it doesn't sound like you'll enjoy it, you almost certainly won't. If it does, you might do. Be warned, the first episode, Reptilicus, is weak. it feels try-hard, as the writing team crams too many bland and disjointed or ostentatiously nerd-pop culture riffs in to fill every. Single. Moment of silence in the movie. It feels over-written and over-edited and very nearly put me off the whole endeavour. Despite the quantity, the quality wasn't there and I can only recall one prominent line from it - appropriately enough, an erection joke.

However it does start to get better as they loosen up a little in later episodes and insert riffs where they should be rather than everywhere they can. It still feels over-produced and suffering from a surfeit of budget and writers, but it's fairly hard to actively dislike Jonah, Felicia and their chums.

I'm on the fence, but will press on to episode 5 which - in best 4th wall breaking style - they've promised will be the one where it finds its feet.

*pokes the borg* The BBC have all episodes of Peter Kay's Car share on the iPlayer. I'm surprised seeing as they cancelled the Robot wars final and Top Gear due to golf.

It's more BCF than you'd think:

*pokes borg again* Bosch series 3's out... all episodes Dance!

Older but definitely still would Seven of Nine Wub

Edit: and finished series 3, I do like Bosch even if he does remind me of droopy.

Fargo series 3's already started (channel 4 are a bit late so Kodi), not sure about the double dose of McGregor. I really liked the first series, even if the whole based on a true story's (like the film) an unnecessary lie. Second series was good until they decided to ruin it and insult the audience with:

It's... OK.

I feel that I've seen/read it a lot though. Gaiman, Moore, haven't we done a tortured Champion reluctantly drafted onto the side of the Powers That Be before? Oh, Whedon too. Quirky vampires, even. Huh, didn't Kevin Smith take a swing at this too?

Fair play, it's done decently enough, with a little flash of style of its own, so I'll give it a fair shake. I could live without the Manic Pixie Dream Badass Magical Semi-Negress Girl though. Too many condensed tropes, without any reason given to identify with her as an actual character in her own right. Score one for the Patriarchy, I guess.

I'll stick it out until Rupert evokes the Norfulthing in Manchester, I suppose.

So I'm up to date with Better Call Saul Wub

I started something called Grace and Frankie which is alright but not really for men.

It's about two older women (one very straitlaced and the other kind of funky) whose husbands admit they have been having a gay relationship for 20 years.

So its about how the women cope with it, well ... how they all cope with it really, and also their incredibly dysfunctional grown-up children.

So anyway, yeah, its more of a chick flick series, I suppose.

Warning: it's probably not for you red-blooded types, as the two male characters do occasionally kiss and hold hands.

But it's funnier than it sounds, fairly lightweight in content, and its great to see good performances from Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Martin Sheene.

Hmmm, that reminds me: must put West Wing on my to-do list Thinking

Started watching Genius, not Pure Genius as Kodi/Exodus stream providers seem to be getting confused with (stealing stuff's tough sometimes Sad).

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMTkyOTcwMjY1NV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODg5MzUwMjI@._V1_UX182_CR0,0,182,268_AL_.jpg

Seems pretty good so far, I really like the accents and how everyone says herr before the persons name (Herr Einstein), I'm gonna start doing that and see if it catches on Smile

Oh did I mention it's about Einsteins life? Starts off a bit preachy (Nazi stuff) but then focuses on his earlier life (it's only 3 episodes in so far), turns out Herr Einstein was a bit of a player.

13 Reasons Why

I watched 1 episode on the recommendation of somebody without knowing anything about it. I thought it was Twilight cheese basically but after watching it, I looked it up and it had something like 8.6 on IMDB.

So I stuck with it for a couple more episodes and although still cheese, it got slightly better. I ended up watching the whole thing as it got darker and darker in the themes but the cheese remained.

As a show, nothing like Sons of Anarchy but that was cheesey as well, yet I watched all 7 seasons Laughing

The Last Kingdom

Couple of episodes in to this on season 1... decent stuff. What's not to like about vikings?

Prison Break

I fucking loved this show when it came out, I was hooked. It has been a long time since I watched it and aside from remembering this guy can break out of any jail you put him in, I've forgotten pretty much everything that happened so I'm nailing through it again in time for the revived Season 5 to be finished and I can see how we've progressed over the years.

Hmmmm, my finger was lingering over the 13 Reasons Why thing, but I wasn't minded to commit to it. I might have another look at it after - no wait, I'll just put it on the incredibly long, constantly increasing list of must-watches Laughing

I personally thought they lost the plot just about after first series.
Was looking desperate by third so I chucked the towel in and saved many hours by doing so.

I don't know how you lot keep finding and giving new series of stuff the time and chance, as most recent newer box set series I've found generally boring or can't get into.

Im happy to call it a day after Prison break, Walking dead, Sopranos and SoA.

What I really miss on tv is Ax men (best drama series ever) and outback truckers. Both of these jobs a few years ago I'd have said hell yeah I could do that shit, but after watching the programs I realised that no matter how gung ho and macho I'd like to be, my shitty body ain't up to either of these jobs, so I do have respect for those that do these jobs.

Warp core breach imminent. There's been a series of transporter accidents for the crew and cast and the scripts and even the time period. Nobody seemed (or seems) to know what they're making or why or for what audience.

All that, and they're hiding it in their ad-infested paywalled garden.

That CBS castrated Axanar but then pressed on with... that... just shows how little they really give a toss about Trek.

Oh, and Axanar...

https://i.imgur.com/yBLMrGE.gif

...vs...

https://youtu.be/y6ntVAcqZ1M?t=25 (imgur refuses to gifv it - I don't blame them).

Wow. Just, wow.

When it fails, you just know they're going to blame the (Star Trek!) audience for Not Being Ready for a cast headed up by Shon'iqua Te'quilla and Jacquie Chan. Damn Patriarchy, always Patriarching.

Seth McFarlane is Jason Nesmith in Galaxy Quest 2 The Orville.

The slew of post Galaxy Quest SF parodies have all flopped because they forgot to bring the funny. I have a fondness for Hyperspace but it commencified to not "find its market" as they say.

I don't see MacFarlane that turning it around. He ain't as funny or as everyman as he think he is.

I'm Jonesing pretty bad for a decent space opera. It's been quite a while.

Finale was rather bizarre, could argue every story has been done before, although I haven't seen a chainsaw fight in a church (at least not this week).

Enjoyed the twisted dark humour/gore combo, Cassidy's portrayal is spot on for me and the plane fight scene sets the tone. Agreed, Tulip's character is insubstantial, but they are probably attempting the "air of mystery" and will hopefully build her some more, although the helicopter take down was some bona fide badassery.

I got a bit bored towards the end, but was doleful when it all ended, will definitely give season 2 a run.
