Started watching Sons of Anarchy a few weeks ago for my sins. What a crock of shite. Up to Season 6 now and its still a crock of shite...

Whilst I don't want a spoiler, can somebody here tell me if the plot improves?

Kinda stays the same.

It's okay(ish) IMO a gangster series, with a bit of modern western really, motorcycles are pretty much incidental to the plot, (and apparently bullet proof)

Same here. Not sure I can make it through S2.

There are some truly preposterous and mind-bendingly corny touches - such as that white dove perched on the road sign at the end of iirc first season, meant as some sort of contrast with the black crows that open the first scene of the first episode.

Wtf.

Also, watch out for this common one - gang member pulls up on his ahem hog, and there are several hearty revs of the engine before keying it off - but the rider's throttle hand doesn't move.

The only saving grace of Sons of Anarchy as far as I can tell is watching the demise of the Doc from 'classy' bird to dope-smoking skank. There is a somewhat surreal scene in Season 5 in which she sniffs a dead woman's perfume then puts her hand down her slacks to hunt for the man in the boat, which was totally leftfield...

I thought I invested too much time in duds Shocked Luke Cage/The Defenders Embarassed, and Black Sails up to the start a Season 3, although TBF it did get better from the second half of series 1 and the season 2 finale was epic.

Is Rogerborg restrained and sedated? Good, Star Trek discovery has started. Bit of an odd one, the first two episodes are basically a pilot and it looks like the series starts properly from now. So based on the first two episodes I'd give it a meh+, the plus coming from the second episode.

The dialogue's all over the place, the story seems a little odd and leaning heavily towards the recent films, and it does have a distinctly budget feel in places. I'll see where it goes/give it a bit longer, walking dead gal was surprisingly good, even if her back story was kinda strange and I think rewriting Star Trek history which always upsets trekkies Very Happy

It's OK, the fictional pastiches don't register on my sensors. Never mind canon, it's not even Brannon.

Tying a knot in it. It's pre-fictional Kirk in the fictional universe.

The aggravating part was that CBS put the legal whammy on Axanar in part because it's in the same time period but the real universe, before deciding that they were going to go fictional with Discovery.

Its production has been nothing but tribble, with show runners quitting, cast members being replaced or recast mid-shoot, or trying to weasel out of their contracts, and the crew describing it as near unfilmable. Nobody involved seems to give a Goddamn about it (or about Trek), and so neither do I.

Anyone else watching Mr Mercedes?

It's being shown on a not-very-well-known-over-here American channel, few sources online.

Current favourite series atm.

YES!!

Good isn't it? Anything Brendan Gleeson is good. The Treadaway twin isn't bad either.

But that mother tho? What the actual?

TSK speaking, not SS, he left himself signed in Shocked Shocked

Yes, watching it. Good laugh.

I like it better than the original (Picard) Star Trek series.

I'm just finishing reading the book (again), so also looking forward to seeing this.

On topic, I've just finished watching Spartacus again, almost finished the first season of Midnight Texas

I'm about 15 years behind everyone else, but:

The Wire.

3 series in, been excellent so far.

Essentially following a group of baltimore detectives, running across multiple storylines both at the street level and higher up in the politcal chain.

The show started in 2002, it already feels like a period police drama but in a good way, they can't zoom in 300x on a cctv still or hack and track a suspect's computer and phone.

On Netflix - S2 of The Expanse, still enjoying it although it doesn't match up to the books.

Also Wynonna Earp. It's a bit "Buffy" but an easy watch.

He is definitely the highlight of the entire second series.
