Was it just the first series you watched?
I thought it had a decent build up, but the end was a bit meh!

The 2nd series is worth a go, despite the first's ending.

He's the only good thing about the show TBH. She's a little... err... dishevelled, I had high expectations after Get Hard: https://youtu.be/BSp0YxuYNTI?t=1m18s* (I did Laughing)

Other stuff got in the way so started watching Glow yesterday.
I've just finished ep 5, and onto 6.

I didn't think that I liked Alison Brie (based on the odd Community ep that I've seen), but she isn't bad in this. Not my favourite Brie based actress tho - Hello, Brie Larson Razz Razz Razz
Marc Maron is tits though. Soo good.

HK - what was it that you found underwhelming about ST? I avoided it for a year because of the hype and went in expecting to not really like it. A week later, and 2 seasons down, I can't wait until next year Very Happy

I love Community - Annie is great although I might prefer Brita. Abed's Cage is a classic.

Also, started recording and watching old Fast Show episodes on Sky.
Brilliant!

I also watched it, it wasn't bad after all.

SPOILER: The red head is going to show tits as well.

I've just bought season one of Misfits on blu ray, seems interesting from reports I've read, binge this weekend is on the cards.

Future man - almost up there with Dirk Gently I'd say. (Easily the best series in a good while for me.)

Self-depreciating satirical time traveling The Last Star Fighter meets Quantum Leap and Terminator.

Though; don't accidentally watch the last episode first - even more confusing!

Isn't the whole thing on All4? It was alright, I remember the guy from This is England being good, he came in later though. He actually seemed to carry over his character from misfits into the final series of TiE, which was a good thing Smile

Approved. Production values are UK standard, the superpowers are handily FX-free, but the writing and acting is ace.

I liked that.Bit slow to start off but gets better as it goes along.

It could hardly get worse.

All too quiet, careful and precise thus far. Can't see why I'd actually care about anyone in it, or by extension what they're doing. I agree with just shooting the mentalcrims in the brain case.

[3... 2...]

OK, I get it, it's a slow burner. It picks up when foxy doctor Anna Torv shows up, Effete Bloke takes more of a back seat to Grizzled Guy, and they get some actual crimes going.

You can liven it up with a drinking game. Take a shot whenever you see:

Arrow Brown Paisley patterned anything.
Arrow A pornstache, bow chicka wow.
Arrow A slowwwwww zoom in to add profundity.
Arrow That blue and white VW camper van.

[...0...]

Dammit, yes. As a... sequence... it's splendid. I get the progression. The pattern. I... see..

No I watched the whole 2x series (I quite liked the bit when Eleven turned gothy Cool )

So I tried Peaky Blinders, can't stand more than 15 minutes due to the brummy accents.

I started American Gods, which I watched until they gave themselves a war and then fucked off back to Vikingland ... but I might persevere with that.

And Bojack Horseman, yes that seems like my sort of thing.

Have also got The Crown lined up to start next week, I loved the first series: Doctor Who as Prince Philip, who knew.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but I guess it must be that I've lived through the best part of half a century of Stephen King novels/films, and it all seemed a bit ... just-like-that, really.

Mad Men is on my to-do list.

It definitely has its moments. Even when characterisationa and plot mightn't be on point, the sets and photography can still be entertaining.

Neflix needs to add a "Skip Family Flashback" button to Punisher.

It's not a particularly interesting character or story. Writing, OK, filming, OK, casting... OK, although isn't casting an English Polish-Indian as a Murcan Persian a case of cultural appropriation? Or do all slightly dusky people look and sound alike?

Say, would anyone like some refreshing Amstel beer, or delicious Tree Ripe orange juice?

I started watching Season 2 of Daredevil (bypassing the first) to get more Punisher action but it's kinda meh. The long haired guy from The Butterfly Effect's annoying.

Daredevil S1 is worth watching just for Vincent D'Onofrio's portrayal of Wilson Fisk as an angry hulk baby.

They don't have the content to fill the time, is my main problem with it. It's padded out with far too much repetition of essentially the same three or four scenes over and over.

Now watching S2 of Dirk Gentley and S1 of The Dark, which is dubbed from German.
Why can't they just subtitle it or at least give me the choice. Rolling Eyes

I get what you are saying - but I think that it was intentional - there are so many nods to Stephen King (especially Carrie), the goonies, the Lost boys, 80's culture in general. I was more worried that I wouldn't like it because it wouldn't live up to the hype.

hellkat wrote:

Yup, In the new year I think I'm gonna either sign up for another free trial, or bite the bullet on the £5.99 option. Mad Men has been on my Sky box a number of times, recorded and removed to make space... The rest of The Good Place will be upin Jan, and I am 5 eps deep in Bojack Horseman. Not sure if I like it or not, but I do like the dark self-loathing and egotism Smile

Black Sails.

Absolute shout. Watched this every week from Ep1 when it started and so gutted when I heard they would finish on S04.

I don't think we've ever seen anything as epic about pirates before? Certainly not to my knowledge, pirate films/shows are usually shit.

Pirates of the Caribbean films are good but in a slapstick way.

You two went all Black Sails before, remember? Smile The season two finale was epic, the rest of it (I bailed early in Season 3) was naff. The first half of Season 1 was particularly naff.
