Rented Bikes

Unfortunally tonight I realised that I would not be able to get my NSR till jan 2005!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to ride though!!!!!!! Does anyone know a place where they will rent 125cc to an 18 year CBT holder. I know it sounds desperate but I gotta do some riding! Embarassed

I live in leicester in the east midlands.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

Buy a cheap bike for £300 or something, a little 125 of some sort, CB125/CG125/GS125 etc, it'll probably work out cheaper than renting, but being 18 without a full licence, no one will really lend you a bike anyway.

Probably more than the bikes worth, but like I say, I doubt anyone will be jumping at the chance to loan you a bike.

I don't know how much insurance is really on a 125 as I've never owned one, but I'd gather around the £500 mark for something cheap???

It all depends on how old you are. At 17/18 they don't like insuring you on anything. Dunno about R1/blackbird, but at 18 I insure a TL1000 for £900 TPFT, had a ZX6R for TPFT £800, and could have had it TPO for £350.

For TPO on a shitty old £300 125 you won't pay that much. I would be pretty surprised if it came to £500.

A mate of mine rented a bike and it cost £130 for a weekend, and you are worrying about a £300 CG125?? Shocked

If you want a bike, buy a bike, if you want a gap year go on a gap year.

If you want to pass Uni, don't use your student loan to buy a bike.

I made that mistake. Smile

So you should be able to get it for less.

If you buy a working cg125 at for say £400 or £500, even if you crash it and generally abuse it you should be able to still get a £300 when you sell it.
Okay, you will have to pay out for inusrance, but this will mean you will have one year's NCB when you want to get a better bike, which will put you in much better stead.
I expect doing it this way will save a fair bit of money over renting.

My AR cost me £180 to insure, and I think it's considerably quicker than a CG125, (what isn't?) it was a nice price for me.

Remember you don't need to get anything other than TPO on an older bike.

Good question;
I love the UK but I've only actually lived here for five years. My dad's a journalist and I used to move countries every three years. However when he and my mum split up I moved in with her for my high school years.

I need difference in my life and lots of it. I need to get away from the UK every year and I'm not talking about Ibiza (Brighton II this time it's personal).

I can't think of living anywhere else than the Uk but I have loads of friends in other parts of the world.

If you buy a cheap bike make sure you check the price of TPFT as well as TPO, sometimes it turns out cheaper Eh?

My (£300) cb250 cost me about £200 on insurance, so not that bad!

Good God! Listening to you guys I've started wondering if that great deal I thought I'd had on insurance was so great after all!

My NSR, Y-reg cost me 2grand and insurance is costing me 700 TPFT at 17yrs. Good deal, bad deal??????

Do your test, go to oz, buy a bike and travel down/up the west/east coast. The money you save from not paying for coaches will cover the bike and tax.
