My Starlet is going in for an MOT Friday.
I paid £50 for it, it means nothing to me, 160k on the clock.
Me and my friend are trackdaying it and then going to just... ruin it for the lulz.

Whats the law regarding rear seats. This may sound like im pissed... but is there any legal thing stopping me say... mounting the rear seats backwards and installing a TV?

Tried to convince his we should fit a kitchen interior inside.. sink and all.

Its a funny little crap heap that is bright green... and we want some fun... so no spoil sports saying "sell it" or "keep it practical"

Not sure about mounting them backwards, but I've just been advised that were I to fit seats in the back of a van sideways bench style it would need neither an engineers report or seatbelts for use. But forward facing would require both.

Not 100% certain if that is accurate, but this sort of madness does seem like the sort of laws our government ok's.

Legally not sure. Suspect you might have C&U issues.

Rearward facing seat should be safer in a crash, but will require mounting differently to avoid pulling itself out of the floor. Quite possible there are regulations for this.

If your tracking it, is it worth all the bother of welding new mounting points to the floor?

Nothing illegal about rear facing seats. But the law is now that if the car has rear seats, seatbelts must be fitted (hence in a safe way that works, not just bolting them to the floor).

tbh, it'll be a load of hassle. Save yourself wasted time by gutting it of everything not needed (inc half the dash, just literally cut it out). Then just have the front seats.

Saves weight, saves carrying heffers.

And 2 seats only is perfectly legal. Ran mine like that for about 5 years.
