These tires are horrible, I'll warn you now. I bought this bike as something to go to and from work on 50% of the time and the other 50% to go wild and attempt some knee down action.

A new job, and only a bike license means I'm now doing 300 miles on the motorway a week. After that I do about another 50 in very slow moving traffic, reluctant to put any more wear and tear on the bike I very rarely get it out otherwise, I'll walk everywhere or get the train.

So that said, the bike has 8500 miles on and these are the only set of tyres its ever had, I bought it with 1500 on Smile

I went to a bike shop, and I was told with these tires I 'shouldn't ride past any police stations'. Quoted £278 for some bt023s, some tires I have been looking at for a while.

I know these tires are bad, the chicken strips are almost painful but I literally never get a chance or even want too (since I got 3 points) get rid of them.

Basically, do these tires need changing now or can I leave them a couple of weeks? and stretch a little more life out of them? I don't want to be illegal my license (nor wallet) can afford nil more points, but then again if they don't really need changing right now I'd rather get the most out of them!

What size tyres you need?

Also.. I've ridden on worse... BT014 was square and illegal, Dunlop Qualifier RR was down past the rubber Laughing Got a racetec on there now... square... Laughing

Could source a part worn rear, some ebay deals to be had mate

Also, £278 is expensive, where do you live..

Hi

Looks like it is just about down to the wear limiter. However not sure if that will be a 1mm marker (UK bike limit) or 1.6mm (UK car limit and the bike limit in some places).

All the best

Keith

Get a 10p coin and stick it in the tread of your tyre. If you can see the dotted line around the outside over the top of your tread then it is too low and should be replaced. The dots are about 1mm from the edge of the coin, if you can see them you have less than 1mm of tread.

If it rains between now and the time you get new tyres, it could be 'interesting' every time you open the throttle...

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
