it works on occasion when i push the horn button but other times it just makes a feeble noise that lasts a second if that. But if i put my hand on the horn then press the button it works

there is a small screw on the back, play with that
also check the contacts are good.

Sounds like a loose connection or broken wire.
If all else fails just go buy some wire and wire it straight on to the battery for the mot.

Sometimes the horn gets sticky/poor because you dont use it much (thank god)
This will sometimes work = press the horn button and at the same time give the horn a whack with the plastic handle of a screwdriver.

I`ve done this on a number of bikes to get the horn going Thumbs Up

If all else fails buy a battery operated horn for a bicycle and put it on the handlebars. I've passed a few on my GasGas like this but you may need to put a bit of tape over the original horn button.
