HONDA NTV 650 do i or don't i?

Ok so a friend of mine is selling an ntv 650..

Im still on a 125cc with L plates, passed theory booking mod 1 soon

Been told by the test centre they are pretty sure ill pass, done my cbt twice with them now (there brilliant people)

He is asking for £550 for it (was £650 but mates rates)

It has no tax no mot no v5 he said he is willing to get the v5 before i buy.

I am quite mechanicly minded so is my dad so any mot problems will be easy enough.

Do i buy or don't i ?

pro's, it'll go on forever with minimal maintenance. Good commuter.

Cons, it's a pretty dull ride with flat low reving engine and poor suspension.

£550 is too much with no mot. With mot and maybe a bit of tax its about right. For reference i paid 350 for a slightly older one with 6 months tax and mot.

I don't think i ever maxed it out but had 110 on the duel carrigeway fairly often (though it did gobble fuel when thrashing it).

Acceleration was pretty good up to about 80 then it tailed off. But being low reving and me being used to inline 4's i found i was always bouncing it off the limiter searching for more revs. Still way better than most cars, just mediocre in bike terms, about a 3 or 4.

It will sit happily at 80 but as i said, mine did use a lot of fuel doing that. Not sure if this is typical or mine had a fault.

It depends what you are used to. Coming from a 125 it'll be a bullet but for me it was too tame.
