order JB weld and use that. Make sure the entire surface is oil free until its fully cured (takes about 48 hours to be sure)
I had the exact thing happen to my r6. chain knocked off the engine casing lump leaving the same bearing exposed.
Mine held for over a year until i crashed on the left hand side at 100mph and took out a signpost.
If you're local i'll do it for you.
it's far from scrap. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

only if you do it properly. I tried all sorts of stuff from brazing it to getting it welded.
Brazing wouldn't work because the casing would need to be hot enough to melt the brazing rods to make it bond properly, possibly ruining the exposed bearings by exposing them to a flame for that long. Plus all the electrics local to the area (IIRC a generator wire runs up the side, and the loom runs overhead, as well as the starter motor)
Ally welding needs the casings to be heated pretty highly too, so unless you strip the engine, that won't be a very good option for the same reasons...
this was a last resort for me and worked perfectly.
Solvent cleaned the area using Ardrox blue from work, then keyed the area with coarse sandpaper.
MAKE SURE THE WHOLE AREA'S FUCKING CLEAN.
mix 50/50 jb weld hardener and substance
apply thinly to the engine casing on the broken parts
apply thinly to the broken parts of the chunk knocked off
offer up the chunk, and put on the sprocket cover so it holds it in place and keeps the bolt hole aligned.
after about 4 hours or so, take off the cover (should have set enough to hold it up by then)
Apply generously everywhere possible. Use the entire tube to build it up. It's awkward to get it into the places at the back, but it's important that you do.
leave it a couple of days without starting it, as oil only travels up when the engine's running
that's about it.
like i said, the only reason mine ever failed is because the bike went down hard on the LHS ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles.
